**Position Summary**

The Manager, Fundraising and Special Events is responsible for developing, managing and implementing successful revenue generation and donor engagement programs including: corporate and foundation giving, major and planned gifts, event sponsorship, and event planning. The role includes stewardship of existing supporters and proactively identifying and building new relationships with high net-worth individuals, sponsors, companies, trusts and foundations. S/he will serve as National lead and resource to support regional fundraising activities, including sponsorships, special events, grant requests, and major gift solicitations.

**Responsibilities and Related Tasks**

**Direct Service - 60%**
- Design and deploy fundraising plans/campaigns to ensure realization of CHS' fundraising goals.
- Research and identify grant-making organizations and major donors aligned with CHS funding needs including corporations, foundations, service clubs, sponsorships, government project funding, and high net-worth individuals.
- Conduct the full range of activities required to research, write, submit, and manage grant proposals to corporations, foundations, government, service clubs and individuals, including budget development and management.
- Manage the delivery of CHS special events including planning, participation and volunteer recruitment, promotion, communication, and engagement with donor activities, e.g. direct mail, web fundraising content, pre and day-of event, and post logistics.
- Advise regional offices on local fundraising opportunities.
- Acquire and maintain a sound knowledge and understanding of CHS and use that knowledge and understanding to write compelling grant proposals for corporations, foundations, and major donors.
- Collaboration with Marketing and Communications, Business Development, Finance, and other departments.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Administration - 15%**
- Maintain current records in database and paper files, including grant tracking and reporting.
- Work cooperatively with CHS staff to develop fundraising programs, proposals, and grant requests.
- Develop policies to ensure consistent, cooperative fundraising procedures across CHS.
- Prepare written reports and post campaign results for the director, VP and others, as required.
- Coordinate and execute the fulfilment of all benefits and correspondence to institutional and major gift prospects and donors.

**Financial Management - 10%**
- Prepare annual plan or calendar including qualitative and quantitative objectives.
- Provide detailed activities for each program.
- Monitor monthly financial statements against budget and recommend strategies for bottom line recovery when shortfalls occur.
- Liaise with fundraising staff to ensure prompt processing of all receivables, payables, acknowledgement correspondence.

**Supervision - 5%**
- Supervision of Fundraising Clerk, volunteers, casual employees, and external consultants/agencies.
- Reconcile monthly transactions.

**Community Education and Development - 5%**
- Liaise with CHS program staff to ensure accurate, up-to-date representation in outgoing materials and funding requests.
- Represent CHS on external committees as required.
- Promote and provide information to the public about CHS programs and services.
- Participation at CHS special events, e.g. President's Cup Golf Tournament, Giving Tuesday Challenge, May Month, United Way, etc.

**Personal and Professional Development - 5%**
- Remain current on fundraising strategies, CRM, relevant legislation, and CASL/CRA guidelines.
- Attend management workshops, seminars, and continuing education/professional development seminars.
- Attend and participate in CHS internal and management meetings as requested, special projects, and subsequent task groups.
- Acquire and maintain minimum ASL Proficiency requirement for the position (Advanced Plus).

**Qualifications**
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
- Minimum 3-5 years' fundraising experience in non-profit sector like healthcare, academics, social services.
- Proven experience and success with fundraising events, sales and marketing, grant and major donor proposal writing, and raising funds.
- Superior writing and research skills with proven results.
- Clear understanding of and strict adherence to ethical fundraising standards.
