Reporting To: Education/Family Well-Being Services Director

Overview:
The Family Well-Being Worker will provide a key role in delivering supports for families. This will include working with the Director of Education to develop and implement culturally appropriate community based programming, and to support strong, happy and healthy families in Wahta.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

- Develop and facilitate workshops, events, and activities that promote healthy families, cultural awareness and understanding of mental health in the community.
- Manage financial program expenses monthly for efficient use of funds, accurate recording and reporting by submitting all receipts, completing required forms, and getting approval where required, in a timely manner.
- Follow funding agreement requirements and guidelines for Family Well-Being to ensure its continued success to meet the needs of the community.
- Conduct research, compile data, and prepare reports for information to help families in need and to ensure programs reflect the most up-to-date information about family and child health and wellness.
- Support families by developing partnerships with professionals, to help promote children's learning and development.
- Attend and be an active participant in assigned meetings to understand the priorities, programs, and safety updates for Wahta.
- Collaborate with all Wahta employees, departments, and other service providers to provide the best available programming, resources and services to the community.
- Communicate with community members to answer questions, explain information, and address complaints, regarding the Family Well-Being program in a polite and timely manner.
- Maintain an appropriate range of knowledge, skills and abilities to respond effectively to the needs of Indigenous families, by attending workshops, training sessions, seminars, and other professional development opportunities as approved by the Education Director.
- Track the participation of community members in the family well-being program, referral success, and other statistics to maintain records of participation needed for the funders and analytics.
- Encourage the learning and use of the Mohawk language and the organizations dedications to cultural advancement.
- Protect the privacy and confidentiality of community members and staff to build trust and adhere to privacy requirements.
- Must be able to work flexible hours when needed for community programming purposes.
- Conduct other related duties and relevant tasks at an appropriate level as assigned by leadership.

Education and Experience Requirements:

- Minimum College Diploma in related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a similar or related position with a proven demonstration of skills.
- Minimum 2 years of working with youth/students.
- Minimum 2 years of administrative experience.

Skills Required:

- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Must be reliable and dependable, and committed to maintaining confidentiality.
- Must have the ability to work in and contribute to a team environment.
- Must have a proficient level of communication skills, verbal and written, and be comfortable dealing with the public.
- Must have the capacity to take initiative and to multi-task at times to accomplish the tasks and activities assigned.
- Knowledge of the various types of support services available to families, within the community and beyond.
- Regular to frequent requirement, and as needed, to lift children (up to 45 lbs), including bending, stooping, stretching, squatting, pushing and pulling, and sitting and walking.
- Experience working in a First Nation environment is an asset.
- Knowledge in Kanienkeha:ka culture and history is an asset.
- Must posses a current and valid Driver's License and dependable vehicle.

Terms of Employment:
This is a full-time position beginning immediately. Salary will be based on qualifications and experience.
