**Position Summary**

Wilfrid Laurier University’s Faculty of Social Work (Faculty) offers a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW), a Master of Social Work (MSW) and a PhD. The first two degrees in combination, constitute the professional program accredited by the Canadian Association of Social Work Educators. The Faculty of Social Work has recently launched an online MSW program offered to students both nationally and internationally.

The MSW Online Field and Program Coordinator is a multi-functional position that provides high-level coordination through all stages of the graduate student experience cycle from recruitment initiatives, field placement, to graduation.

Under the direction Senior Administrative Officer, the MSW Online Field and Program Coordinator will work closely with the Associate Dean, MSW, and the Manager: MSW Field Education to facilitate and enhance the delivery of the MSW online program, make effective recommendations with regard to delivery of the online program, develop and maintain technological systems, and website communications to ensure excellent agency and student service. Job performance for the incumbent is the responsibility of the SAO in conjunction with the Associate Deans and the Manager, MSW Field Education.

This position oversees the delivery of the program, events and communications and provides continuity and flow of services to students integrating ideas across departments and a share of resources. Seeking opportunities for continuous improvement, the incumbent communicates and liaises with students in the MSW program in relation to their program and field requirements.

This position will effectively communicate and maintain our student engagement strategy and coordinate with our external partners at Keypath. The incumbent will lead Keypath Student Success Advisors in coordinating student services and to ensure they are complying with WLU standards and expectations with student outreach and messaging.

The breadth and magnitude of the position require the incumbent to use effective communication and technological skills and have an understanding of the BSW and MSW field programs in order to participate in the facilitation of placements for students. The incumbent is expected to have a solid understanding of the Canadian Association of Social Workers Education (CASWE) accreditation standards and ensure all of the requirements are being adhered to when coordinating the field placements for the MSW online students.

**Accountabilities**

**Online MSW **Field Education**
- Within a student-centered model, coordinates the administrative planning of the online MSW program, and works directly with MSW Field staff and Keypath Student Success Advisors.
- Coordinates the placement proposal process for over 300 MSW students annually.
- Provides functional direction to MSW Field Advisors vetting placements to ensure program and student needs are met based on term due dates.
- Advocates on behalf of students to agencies to secure placements and sustain positive community relationships.
- Initiates, develops and sustains partnerships with agencies for long-term student placements.
- Ensures placement agencies and the instructors within the agency meet the CASWE accreditation standards.
- Utilizes understanding of indigenous and non-traditional approaches to education to help provide de-colonized programming.
