Grand River Hospital and St. Mary’s General Hospital are Building the Future of Care Together (BFCT) by developing a shared vision for the future of health care and new hospital infrastructure to care for more patients in our community closer to home for decades to come.

Led by the Joint VP of Redevelopment, the Building the Future of Care Together Redevelopment Team works collaboratively across both Grand River and St. Mary’s General hospitals to plan, design, and build all components of the redevelopment project together as a new, single organization. This plan includes: A new, state-of-the-art hospital site in Kitchener-Waterloo; renewing and repurposing the existing mid-town K-W Campus as an ambulatory and urgent care centre; renewing and expanding the Freeport Campus in Kitchener for modernized and expanded rehabilitation capacity.

All sites would be governed by the new, single organization following the planned merger of Grand River Hospital and St. Mary’s General Hospital in 2025.

We currently have an opportunity for **Integrated Project Communications & Engagement Director **join the Building the Future of Care Together (BFCT) Project. This position is a maternity leave coverage and is anticipated to extend to September 2025.

**How Integrated Project Communications & Engagement Director supports our teams at Grand River Hospital and St. Mary’s General Hospital**:
The role provides range of communications and engagement activities and services required for the Building the Future of Care Together project, a joint project of SMGH and GRH with support from the SMGH and GRH Foundations. This position will play a key role in achieving the project’s guiding principles and stated objectives and must be a skilled communications professional, adept at developing and implementing communications and engagement plans both strategic and operational in nature. The position will lead the setting of the communications and engagement strategies and implementation plans for communicating and engaging with key audiences and developing communications products while being a critical interconnecting role between all parties. Ability to work with multiple stakeholders on plans and products such as publications, websites, social media and events is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

- Developing, implementing, maintaining, and monitoring comprehensive communications and engagement plans.
- Participating as a key collaborator to achieve the project’s government relations objectives
- On a daily basis, providing conceptual, writing, editing and graphical design support to develop materials for the project that include but are not limited to the Hospitals internal and external websites, advertising and outreach documents, reports, social media and newsletters.
- Planning and organizing various showcase opportunities in the community throughout the year.
- Project managing and working with external suppliers for the content and production of all promotional materials and marketing/communications products, including design, print and website build and maintenance.
- Managing the advertising strategy and budget for the project.
- Aligning project communications and marketing standards as assigned with the project objectives and the Hospitals’ policies.
- Engaging with the Hospitals’ internal communications teams, proactively pursuing opportunities for collaboration, partnership, and integration for the Hospital and in some cases, the Foundations, as required.

**At Grand River Hospital and St. Mary’s General Hospital, Integrated Project Communications & Engagement Director has**:

- An undergraduate degree in communications, government relations, marketing or a related discipline
- International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) training is an asset
- A minimum of five to ten (5-10) years’ experience in communications, government relations & marketing or a related discipline
- Experience within a health care environment and capital projects is preferred
- A combination of education and experience will be considered
- Strong and sophisticated writing skills with an ability to effectively adapt to different audiences
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- High level of initiative and critical thinking
- Sensitive to how people organize and function
- Able to organize, prioritize and balance work and multiple priorities
- Ability to effectively cope with change
- Proficient in MS Office Suite including MS Word, Excel, MS Project, MS Visio and SharePoint
