**Position Summary**

Reporting to the Director, Development & Communications, this role will manage the grant portfolio, lead donor recognition, and support engagement initiatives.

The Development Officer works collaboratively across departments on grant activities while stewarding relationships with new and existing donors, and provides support to the Director, Development & Communications on recognizing major gift donors.

**Primary Responsibilities**:
**Grant Portfolio Management**
- Writes and leads the development of proposals and reports, manages the submission and report back processes.
- Works with the Development Coordinator on the grant calendar and tracks activities in the database.
- Researches funding prospects and keeps an eye on grant and funding trends.
- Works closely with the Marketing team to ensure recognition requirements of grants are fulfilled on time.

**Engagement**
- Partners with program staff to develop and implement volunteer engagement plans.
- Works on various internal and external events.
- Be a visible and enthusiastic advocate in the community and support the organization by attending events, making presentations, and networking with targeted audiences to inform them about us and opportunities to support our work.

**Donor Relations Management**
- Act as the project lead on all annual giving appeals.
- Maintains detailed records of all donor contact and ensures timely recognition.

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- A degree in Marketing, Communications or Business or a related field **AND** 3 years of proven experience in a related role.
- Ability to work independently and effectively with teams.
- Demonstrated interest, commitment, consistency, and a high level of self-awareness, personal maturity, and responsibility.
- Excellent interpersonal qualities including flexibility, effective communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills.
- Self-motivated, positive and able to take initiative.
- Strong process orientation, with excellent attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment.

**Pay Range**: $50,000 to $65,000
