**About the Opportunity**
**Summary**
The Employment Case Manager - Life Train will tailor services and supports to assist youth participants facing barriers to employment, develop skills and gain the confidence and experience they need to successfully transition to the workforce. This position is responsible for providing pre-employment training opportunities designed to meet participants’ unique needs and enhance their employability.
**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**: of the Employment Case Manger include, but are not limited to:
**Administrative / program related**:
- Completes reports as required including daily logs, weekly and monthly reports;
- Implements and adheres to all agency and program policies and procedures;
- Attends and participates in program meetings;
- Schedules daily jobs in conjunction with the Community Program Supervisor;
- Tracks youth’s attendance;
- Is available for some evening and weekend work as required;
- Attends all training, orientation, supervision and evaluation as necessary;
- Coordinates, communicates and monitors youth case plans to encourage successful completion of program;
- Documents all contacts and information as per guidelines;
- Prepares and co-facilitates life skills and employment workshops;
- Group facilitation and one-to-one work as required;
**Participant related**:
- Acts as an advocate on behalf of the best interest of the participants and acts to ensure that their rights are respected;
- Acts as a positive role model for participants;
- Follows up on participants that are not attending;
- Conducts intake and assessment of participants with a participant-oriented, strengths-based perspective;
- Liaises with EIA, keeping workers updated on participant’s progress;
- Identifies and communicates concerns and updates regarding participants;
- Assesses participant needs/goals (i.e., basic needs, food, housing, safety, security, etc.);
- Sets individual goals with participants using a solution-oriented model;
- Provides support and guidance on a variety of issues including parenting, decision-making, problem-solving, self-care, alcohol/drug abuse, sexual abuse, physical abuse, birth control, and relationships;
- Other duties as assigned.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Essential**:
- Post-secondary degree in Education or Human Services field;
- Minimum of two years’ related experience working with high-risk youth;
- Demonstrated experience in employment counselling (resume writing, job search, etc.);
- Demonstrated experience in group facilitation;
- Willingness to obtain necessary training as per agency training policy including: CPR/First Aid, NVCI, Suicide Intervention and Child Development;
- Applicable certifications (i.e., First Aid, CPR Level C, ASIST, NVCI, Mental Health First Aide & Safe Talk, etc.);
- Emergency First Aid and CPR Level C;
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, a clear Child Abuse Registry check with acceptable Prior Contact checks and a clear Adult Abuse Registry check, all done within the last 3 months;
- Willingness to obtain necessary training as per agency training policy;
**Preferred**:
- Knowledge of Indigenous languages and cultures would be considered an asset;
- Knowledge of Strengths based and Solution Oriented approaches and community resources;
- Crisis intervention, harm reduction and conflict resolution skills;
- Strong organization, time management, problem solving skills as well as excellent communication and documentation skills;
