**MAJOR CASE MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR**

**Salary: $81,020.48 - $97,043.60**
**GENERAL**:The Nishnawbe Aski Police Service requires one (1) civilian to fill the full-time position of Major Case Management Coordinator. The position is based out of our General Headquarters located in Thunder Bay, ON.

The Major Case Management Coordinator will provide support for Major Cases through consultation, mentoring, file management, Major Case software support and electronic brief building in a confidential environment. Coordinate Major Case Software (PowerCase) implementation and audits. Further, provides direct supervision to subordinates.
**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Knowledge of computer operation to the extent to be capable of filing, modifying, exchanging, saving, moving, storing and copying files of a digital nature including scanning documents and other material for inclusion into an investigative database;
- Knowledge of computer software programs (e.g. Adobe Acrobat Pro, Major Case Management software, OCR Software and Microsoft Office Programs) to understand how to manipulate data and change file types to work with proprietary software;
- Knowledge of digital audio/video formats and editing software (e.g. Adobe Premiere, Handbrake, AVS and Audacity);
- Knowledge of CD/DVD and external hard drive creation/authoring;
- Knowledge of policies/procedures (e.g. Ontario MCM) related to the preparation and processing of documentary and digital evidence;
- Knowledge of rules of evidence, court procedures, continuity, and note taking;
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills;
- Ability to pass a NAPS security background check and criminal record check
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Receives various types of electronic, digital, video and hard copy evidence and completes the appropriate logs for proof of evidence continuity. Maintain a daily court ready personal notebook;
- Prepares evidentiary documents for the scanning process; removes obstructing materials that interfere with the scanning process. Operates advanced high speed/desktop document management scanning equipment, various machinery and computer programs to convert all forms of seized evidence into the appropriate digital CD, DVD or external hard drive format disclosure;
- Prepares and fields electronic images for digital court disclosure and/or archiving by using specialized computer programs for processing and indexing. Prepares, redacts and transcribes digital audio/video for court presentation and inclusion in the court brief. Electronically link external files and various media into the core investigative database/file. Electronically redact sensitive personal information from disclosure. Vetting electronic images and files at the direction of the investigator;
- Mentors and provides guidance and direction to File Coordinators in the creation and set-up of an MCM file both electronically and in MCM software. Assists the File Coordinator in prioritizing anD completing tasks within the MCM software. Provides direction and resources to the Investigator as required in relation to MCM filing practices and electronic brief preparation;
- Testifies in court with regards to the electronic evidence management process including continuity, handling of evidence, database/file creation, database/file access, database/file manipulation and training issues surrounding the software used;
- Occasionally travels to off-site work locations to assist with investigations as approved by the Unit Commander. Is comfortable and capable delivering the same level of support (as would be provided in-person) utilizing available desktop conferencing software and other virtual training methods;
- Ensures all occurrences meeting the threshold requirements of the Major Case Manual (MCM) are captured appropriately in the PowerCase software. Further, that submissions meet timelines specified in the MCM;
- Prepares PowerCase reports as required under the MCM;
- Manages PowerCase user profiles and passwords;
- Provides direct oversight to reporting subordinates.
