Integrated Clinical Extern Coordinator

Alexandra Hospital, Ingersoll and Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital are actively seeking applicants for an Integrated Clinical Extern Coordinator position. "Integrated" means that the successful incumbent will work at both hospital sites.
Reporting to the Director, Clinical Services and Professional Practice, the Clinical Extern Coordinator supports the hiring, on-boarding, program development and planning, education, scheduling, and day to day mentorship of Clinical Externs.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Hiring, training and supporting the mentorship of Externs to ensure success in their role
- Support the incorporation of Externs at the organizational and unit level
- Organize, facilitate and contribute to Extern onboarding
- Create, adapt, and deliver orientation and learning resources
- Aid in understanding team processes on each unit and role clarity
- Assist Externs to become familiar with the work in their new area of practice
- Support unit teams to collaborate with Externs to provide required patient care
- Maintain regular unit presence to support ongoing education needs and tracking of required skills attainment
- In consultation with Infection Prevention and Control, ensure all Externs have the required skills to ensure health & safety protocols are met
- Provide coaching in clinical related matters, monitoring and making recommendations regarding clinical practice
- Mentor and act as a resource person in the problem solving processes; shares and develops professional nursing knowledge
- Provide leadership, resources and hands on expertise to support mentors, preceptors, and new hires.
- Provide ongoing monitoring and evaluations of Extern role
- Promote Extern staff wellness and team well-being
- Serve as a liaison and conduit between the unit leadership, Professional Practice and Operations
- Performs duties in a manner that exemplifies and facilitates both quality and patient safety
- Other duties as assigned
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or equivalent nursing experience
- Current registration with College of Nurses of Ontario
- Crucial conversations education an asset
- Leadership or clinical education/professional practice experience an asset
- Minimum of one year of demonstrated mentorship experience
- Minimum of one year of program development, implementation and evaluation experience
- Preference will be given to applicants with experience developing and facilitating training and adult education
- Demonstrated knowledge of quality improvement processes and change management
- Detail-orientated with good accuracy and analytical skills.
- Able to demonstrate initiative
- Strong ability to multitask and manage time effectively while staying organized and meeting deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with all levels of the organization and provide superior customer service.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as a positive contributor to the team.
- Self-motivated with demonstrated problem-solving skills.
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Internet.
**Other pertinent conditions**:
- Salary as per the Non-Union Salary Schedule ($41.51 per hour to $48.54 per hour)
