Community Programming Assistant

**Job Location: Aylmer, Ontario**:
The Community Programming Assistant is responsible for the planning, promotion, implementation and direct faciliation of recreation programs for children, youth, adults, seniors and families in the Town of Aylmer. This position provides direct customer service and administration at program locations and works within the Parks and Recreation team to engage residents in recreation programs to develop skills and promote active living.

**Key Responsiblities**:

- Assist with the development of recreation programming for the Town of Aylmer.
- Plan, facilitate and evaluate recreation programs such as sports, games, crafts, workshops, skill/certification-based courses, on-line programming and special events for all ages/abilities.
- Organize and maintain equipment for programs. Coordinate purchasing as required by the Manager of Parks and Recreation.
- Secure facilities for programs.
- Participate in the delivery of special events offered by the Town of Aylmer.
- Assist the Manager of Parks and Recreation to ensure programming is adapted to participant needs to support an inclusive environment.
- Liaise with community partners and interdepartmental divisions regarding community programs/events.
- Conduct research on sports and recreation programs and funding opportunities to enhance programming in the community.
- Recruit instructors/performers for programs or events.
- Train, assist with supervision, and provide input for the evaluation of extra labour staff, volunteers, and students assigned to programs/events.
- Maintain program attendance records and relevant administration, and market existing and new programs.
- Provide on-site customer service during programs and/or special events.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patrons regarding all aspects of recreation programs.

**Qualifications**:

- Grade 12, plus 2-year post-secondary education in Recreation and Leisure Services or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience with direct programming in a recreation environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Municipal experience is considered an asset.
- First Aid, CPR “C” certification.
- High Five PHCD considered an asset.
- Knowledge and experience of computer programs used in recreation, such as MS Office, desktop publishing, recreation management scheduling software, and financial management software.
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License.
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Clearance.

**Remuneration Rate: $20.56 - $24.98 per hour**:
