**Job Purpose**

The **Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE)** is responsible for the implementation of Our Munchkin Childcare & STEM Preschool’s approved learning framework. The RECE addresses children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical needs.

The RECE is responsible for preparing materials for the classroom, organizing activities, enforcing safety policies, and checking the social & emotional development of children. The position requires the educator to be innovative & creative when they deliver the Our Munchkin STEM curriculum to the children.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum with a focus of STEM with your assigned age group.
- Consistently devising innovative ways to keep children actively engaged.
- Observe children for daily overall health and ongoing observations for signs of potential learning or behavioural concerns.
- Prepare written documentation for the Supervisor, parents, and/or guardian.
- Assess children's abilities, interests, and needs & discuss progress or concerns with other staff members and clients.
- Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
- Promote positive interactions and behaviour guidance and direction through ongoing supervision of classroom, playground, group, individual, and routine activities.
- Document children’s daily progress reports using the provided app.
- Engage in and collaborate as a team member in the care of the children and the overall operation of the preschool; maintain regular and open communication with coworkers, management, and parents.
- Attending staff meetings and professional development opportunities as necessary.
- Working to maintain the cleanliness of the classroom and organization of classroom materials.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest
- Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records
- Encourage children to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity
- Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts

**Qualifications**
- Valid Registered Early Childhood Education Certificate in Ontario
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR training
- Early childhood education programs and techniques should be known
- Understanding of child development theory and practice
- Must meet Ontario province requirements for childcare employment
- Previous experience working with children
- Immunization Records and health assessment
- Able to climb stairs and lift up to 40 lbs

- The ability to communicate effectively with parents and/or guardians of children

**Working Hours & Benefits**

Pay: $21.00-$23.86 per hour
