**Job Title**:Revenue Accounting Analyst

**Department**:Finance

**Location**:Hybrid role with the ability to work from our Edmonton, AB (YEG) or Calgary, AB (YYC) office.

**Position Overview**:
The** Revenue Accounting Analyst** is an integral part of the finance and accounting team and reports to the Manager, Revenue Accounting.

The **Revenue Accounting Analyst** will be responsible for ensuring revenue is accurately accounted for, in the correct period, in the correct accounts and allocated accurately between earned and unearned revenues and will be accountable for the following duties:

- Perform accounting for airline revenue and ensure revenue recognition is in accordance with the company's policy and current revenue recognition accounting standards.
- Provide real time reporting of sales and earned travel revenue drawn from the Company’s airline software.
- Analyze and monitor revenue streams from various sources
- Examine large data sets to identify trends and patterns to assess overall financial performance
- Verify the accuracy of data related to sales and revenue
- Identify and rectify discrepancies to maintain data integrity
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to enhance efficiency in revenue accounting procedures
- Prepare timely and complete weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports related to revenues, processor fees, restricted cash and accounts receivable balances.
- Prepare variance analysis and provide analytics to management to make sound business decisions and or to correct processes.
- Research, analyze and work with leadership to recommend the proper accounting treatment of new revenue sources and initiatives.
- Prepare technical accounting memorandums, address technical accounting inquiries from the business and provide guidance/implications as required for audit purposes
- Ensure data collection systems are properly tested and compliant with accounting and reporting needs when new revenue initiatives are implemented.
- Work with the data collection teams and vendors to ensure that revenues are captured correctly, and that Flair receives all funds due from processors.
- Continuously review and streamline processes to ensure transactional tasks are executed efficiently.
- Assist with financial audits including reconciliations, support documentation, and communication with external auditors.
- Assist with or respond to other ad-hoc financial requests.
- Such other duties as assigned by the organization from time to time.

**Qualifications & Requirements**:

- ** Education**:

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration or in a related area
- A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or actively working towards the CPA designation is preferred.
- **
Experience**:

- Three (3) to five (5) years of progressively responsible accounting experience within a medium-large organization, demonstrating analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills in managing moderate to complex financial and accounting issues.
- **
Skills & Knowledge**:

- This role requires strong analytic skills, curiosity and understanding of revenue recognition principles, advanced skills in excel, enhanced technical and communication skills, and a proven ability to partner effectively across business functions.
- Strong advanced Excel skills are required.
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail
- Familiarity with e-commerce and merchant credit card processing considered an asset
- Technological proficiency including proven use of multiple software programs is a requirement. Experience with data analytics and/or reporting tools is an asset. Experience with airline software would be considered an asset.
- Strategic and innovative thinking with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Previous airline experience would be considered an asset
