**Position overview**:
The Corporate Development Summer Intern will assist in the implementation of the corporate strategy and support development initiatives to grow Sagard's business and reach. The corporate development role is based in Montreal, Canada.

**Your Responsibilities**:

- Financial modeling and analytical support for a variety of corporate development projects
- Supporting the corporate development team in considering strategic options related to the development and growth of Sagard's platform
- Supporting the launch of new investment strategies, including but not limited to market scans,benchmark analysis, and determining Sagard's competitive positioning, and financial modeling and budgeting
- Playing an active role in M&A activity including preliminary analysis of potential targets, structuring and valuation,synergies and returns calculation, scenario analysis, due diligence, term sheet and definitive agreement negotiations, deal closing and integration planning
- Partnering with Legal, Finance and other teams for a collaborative approach to deal framing and execution
- Playing an active role in accompanying the corporate development team in the post-merger integration of acquisitions
- Assisting in Sagard's strategic planning process, including quarterly and annual tracking against the organization's strategic plan
- Supporting the monitoring of balance sheet investments
- Supporting portfolio companies of the various investment strategies on special projects as-needed, specifically for M&A and business development-related activities

**Key Qualifications**:

- 3+ years of experience in highly analytical environments (preferred in the financial sector)
- Exceptional financial analysis and modeling skills
- Adequate understanding of mergers and acquisitions and/or capital raising processes
- University degree in business administration/commerce, finance, accounting or other
- CPA, CFA, MBA is an asset
- Demonstrated history of strong academic performance and exceptional performance at previous employment
- Excellent spoken and written in English; effective in French
- Rigorous - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; organized and exceptional attention to detail; a high degree of accuracy in a fast-paced, results-oriented workplace; hard working and willingness to work nights and weekends when required
- Proactive and innovative - Thrives in an unstructured working environment; curious and eager to learn about a wide variety of topics; suggests new ideas and new ways of working
- Collaborative - Great attitude and eager to work on a wide variety of projects; a team player who is happy to do whatever is required to move a project forward
- Authentic - Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to build trusted relationships across the ecosystem; humble about their weaknesses and mistakes
