**Position Summary**

The housing aide provides person centered care to residents to promote the comfort, safety and quality of life of the residents of Finlandia Nursing Home/Finlandia Village. Responsible for the serving of meals to residents and the cleanliness of dining areas. Maintains high standards of cleanliness throughout the facility by cleaning and sanitizing rooms and furnishings in assigned work areas following established policies and procedures. Sorts, washes, dries, and folds linens and personal clothing and delivers laundry and personal clothing, in accordance with established policies and procedures.

**Some Key Responsibilities**
- Receives assignment, assembles required materials and supplies, loads service cart and transports to work area
- Uses specified cleaning and disinfecting agents and following specific procedures, work patterns, and routines. Perform tasks as required to thoroughly clean and sanitize resident rooms and common areas
- Ensures privacy of residents during performance of duties
- Serves meals by following procedures and schedules and maintains cleanliness of dining room and other areas as specified
- Receives laundry and sorts according to type, condition and weight. Follows specific instructions for treatment of soiled linens
- Washes and dries laundry following instructions for machine operation, designated washing and drying times, etc.
- Folds laundry as required, sorts and delivers to appropriate apartments
- Observes operation of machines and reports malfunctioning to supervisor. Assists in maintaining laundry facilities, equipment and supplies
- Cleans machines as required and cleans and tidies floors and laundry area
- Participates in educational in-services, staff meetings and other training as required
- Maintains working knowledge of resident safety policies and procedures
- Any additional duties as required

**Qualifications**
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Finnish speaking skill is considered an asset
- An acceptable Police Vulnerable Sector Check verified within the past six months
- 2-step TB test within the past six months

**Physical Demands**
- Extensive walking and standing
- Some lifting, working in awkward positions required in putting away supplies
- Exposure to heat from the kitchen area
- Exposure to biochemical agents and wet floors
