**Job Synopsis**

The Website Manager is part of the MCC Digital Communications Team which is part of the MCC Canada Donor Relations, Marketing and Communications (DMC), and MCC U.S. Communications and Donor Relations (CDR) departments. This position is focused on our external audience and is responsible for ensuring websites are up to date and communicating effectively with external audiences on our website. This position will oversee the strategy and content for MCC’s websites ensuring that they are well structured, new content is developed effectively and that they are regularly reviewed and updated as needed. Ensure that the website strategy is implemented by identifying, creating, editing and adapting content for the website, providing leadership to the website team within the Digital Communications Team and working closely with MCC website stakeholders. The Website Manager is responsible for providing strategic leadership on the content structure of the website including navigation, taxonomy and content structure. This position will be also lead Search Engine Optimization efforts.

**Qualifications**

**Essential**
- Post-secondary degree in communications, marketing or equivalent experience.
- 2-3 years’ experience of team leadership.
- 3-5 years’ experience writing for digital communications platforms.
- Demonstrated efficient and skillful organizational, creative and conceptual skills. The ability to manage multiple large and small projects at one time.
- Tactful and perceptive relationship skills, and good judgment to engage in communication with constituents, co-workers and others.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to understand the intent behind requests, identifying issues and helping to identify opportunities and appropriate solutions.
- Able to pull insights from statistical data such as Google Analytics to understand usage and user needs that can be applied to adjusting and improving digital content.
- Experience working with advanced webpage editing and laying out complex information in an easy to follow and digest format.
- Understanding of the importance of WCAG accessibility guidelines and how to implement best practices on websites.
- The capacity to network over distance and work effectively within a decentralized team.

**Preferred**
- Experience working with website design and related tools.
- Familiarity with writing style guides such as CP style or AP style.
- Understanding of MCC audiences in Canada and the U.S. is an asset.
- Understanding of and appreciation for MCC structure, program and goals is an asset.

**Key Responsibilties**

**Contact/Relationships**:
This position works as part of MCC’s Digital Communications Team as part of both the MCC Canada Donor Relations, Marketing and Communications (DMC), and MCC U.S. Communications and Donor Relations (CDR) departments. This position will be required to work with and provide support for staff in the Canada and U.S. national offices, provincial and U.S. regional offices and international offices. This position may be required to interact directly with website visitors, donors and constituents. On occasion this position will be required to work with freelancers and consultants.
**Supervision**:
The Website Manager supervises members of the website team within the Digital Communications Team including:

- Support and Coordination Specialist
- Website Content and Translation Specialist (to be hired in 2024)

The Website Manager will also be responsible for assisting in choosing and overseeing the work of various consultants and freelancers contracted by the Digital Communications Team.
**Complexity/Competencies**:

- Advocate for digital audiences and digital content best practices.
- Help to find appropriate balance and mediums for effective digital communication that reflect priorities established by leadership and is reflected in MCC’s focus calendar and program across Canada, the U.S. and internationally.
- Balance content, priorities and work demands between Canada and the U.S.
- Participate as part of the content production teams in both Canada and the U.S. - adapting content to digital platforms and producing new digital content as needed, informed by team processes and taking editorial leadership from the Digital Communications Manager (on behalf of both MCC Canada DMC and MCC U.S. CDR).
- Work within all established standards and protocols for preparation, editing and vetting of editorial content.
- Manage the content architecture of a website that is shared by multiple countries, offices and departments often with competing priorities ensuring that the website meets organizational priorities while being easy for website visitors to use.
