The Regional Investigative Services Team Computer Crime Unit is currently seeking a dedicated **Full-Time Technological Crime Clerk.** You will play a pivotal role in supporting our service's enhanced computer crime unit capacity to support district and regional investigations. **About the Role - How you will Contribute to the Service**:
This role will be responsible for retrieving, organizing, and preparing seized devices for processing by sworn members of Technological Crime Unit. Utilizing your expertise in, digital forensic best practices, you will ensure the continuity, preservation, and disposition of seized devices. This includes continually monitoring status of devices and performs administrative and clerical duties. You will serve as a liaison and communicate with investigators, other employees, and software/hardware vendors as the first point of contact for the Technological Crime Unit.

**Here's what you’ll get to do**:

- Coordinates the intake process for all incoming exhibits/devices, including photographing exhibits and accurately entering and maintaining exhibit details (e.g. bag, tag, make, model, serial numbers, etc.) into Technological Crime Unit Records Management System (RMS).
- Ensures proper documentation is submitted, including but not limited to Technological Crime
- Submission forms, judicial authorization, or Coroner’s Authority (e.g. search warrant, consent form, etc.).
- Communicates with investigators, other employees, and software/hardware vendors as the first point of contact for the Technological Crime Unit.
- Liaises with the vendor and internal units to obtain forensic software renewals. Responsible for completing Niche RMS tasks assigned to the Technological Crime Unit.
- Handles incoming electronic devices to preserve evidence, as required, following digital forensic best practices.
- Monitors status of devices submitted to the Technological Crime Unit, while satisfying recordkeeping and chain of custody obligations.
- Communicates with investigators regarding the status of devices submitted to the Technological Crime Unit office.
- Organizes and facilitates basic training opportunities for investigators (i.e. consent extraction solutions for Intimate Partner Violence unit).
- Continually updates and develops skills regarding new computer technology, and attends training, workshops, and seminars to maintain current knowledge of trends and developments.
- Organizes and facilitates basic consensual extractions.

**What you’ll Bring to the Role**:
**Education, Certifications and Qualifications**:

- Minimum two-year community college diploma in computer science, or equivalent, required.

**Previous Experience, Knowledge and Skills**:

- Minimum 1 year of previous related experience required.
- Proficiency with Computer technologies (i.e. Identifying and removing hard drive(s) from seized computers, knowledge of computer components and their functions)
- Prior experience using a computerized inventory system will be considered an asset.
