Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada (BBBSC) is looking for a National Associate, Finance to help manage and support its financial and accounting processes while providing administrative support. This critical role helps BBBSC continue its mission to enable life-changing relationships to ignite the power and potential of young people.

Every year, together with more than 16,000 volunteer mentors who log over 1.7 million volunteer hours, we lift the lives of more than 26,000 Canadian youth, their families, and the communities in which they live.

**IDEAL CANDIDATE**

You can multi-task and to manage the bookkeeping, key control account reconciliation and financial reporting elements of the role, while effectively communicate with senior leadership team members.

**RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES**

You are hands-on and confident in your ability to provide expertise in the areas of bookkeeping and financial administration. You possess a multi-disciplinary skillset around providing administrative and organizational support within the area of Finance. You are keen to learn about our business operations across Canada, and provide key insights to the senior leadership team, under the direction of the National Director, Finance.

In recruiting for the role of **National Finance Associate**, we are looking for someonewho can manage multiple priorities and deadlines, is comfortable working both independently and in cooperation with others, and who will be a key contributor to the success of our finance team.

This 1 FTE (35 hours per week) position reports to the National Director, Finance. You will be required to go into the office once week to check the mail and verify bank deposits. As our National Finance Associate, you will be responsible for:
**Accounts Payable**
- Process incoming vendor invoices and other payable items;
- Ensure accuracy of expense claims and process payments;
- Process semi-monthly and ad-hoc payment runs and flow through of donations and; corporate funding to agencies
- Maintain vendor contracts and funder agreements;
- Provide other assistance to internal and external stakeholders with vendor issues and requests;
- File AP invoices, and related accounting documentation;
- Prepare reports and payments to government authorities in a timely and accurate manner;
- Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately in accordance with the organization’s policies and accepted accounting practices.

**Accounts Receivable**
- Invoice agencies and corporate sponsors for dues, funding and other amounts;
- Process mail at our National office location in Toronto (weekly);
- Perform bank deposit duties;
- Post customer payments by recording cheques and online transactions;
- Liaise with fund development staff regarding receipts, coding funds and distribution of funds to agencies per Memoranda of Understanding;
- Serve as a customer contact for billing inquiries and payments;
- Review financial reports detailing accounts receivable status;
- Facilitate payments for outstanding invoices by sending reminders and contacting member agencies and customers.

**General**
- Organize, manage, and store online financial records;
- Ensure compliance with all company, local, provincial, and federal accounting and financial regulations;
- Complete month-end accounting procedures, including processing of expenses, journal entries, credit card and account reconciliations;
- Respond to accounting inquiries from internal and external stakeholders regarding billing and accounts receivable;
- Provide support for external audits and prepare government filings and remittances
- Communicate with vendors and clients regarding accounts
- Assist with development of budget and other financial processes
- Other duties as assigned

**KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & ABILITIES**
- A College Diploma, preferably in Accounting, Business or Finance, or equivalent
- 2-4 years of bookkeeping processes and procedures experience; including accounts payable and receivable, preferably in
