**Position Summary**
Reporting to the Academic Chair of the School of Media, Business & Access, the Assistant Culinary Technician support faculty and other technicians in the daily operation and maintenance of the kitchen, market, and Resto 213. The incumbent assists in the production of food and baked good intended for sale in the Loyalist Market and Resto213 and assists in the preparation for practical labs.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Ensures Kitchen, Market, and Resto213 are clean, including, but not limited to work areas, fridges, floors, and stock area
- Assist students in the area of sanitation, health, and safety
- Support technicians and faculty in the production of food and baked goods intended for sale in the Loyalist Market and Resto213
- Support technicians and faculty in preparation for practical labs
- Follows instructions and recipes provided by technicians and faculty in the preparation of top quality of food and baked goods
- Assists in receiving and storing product from suppliers
- Ensure that safe food handling and FIFO principles are being applied in receiving
- Packages and labels food and baked goods intended for sale
- Ensures Loyalist Market/Resto213 is set-up and stocked, replenished as required
- Customer Service in Loyalist Market and/or Resto 213 as required
- Prepares practical culinary labs
- Other duties as assigned
**Qualifications**
- Minimum completion of a one (1) year Culinary Skills certificate from an accredited post-secondary institution
- Minimum one (1) year of demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced kitchen, utilizing a variety of culinary techniques
- Demonstrated understanding of health and safety protocols
- Excellent customer service and communication skills required
- Effective interpersonal and problem-solving skills, conflict, stress management and resiliency
