Finance Controller

**Job Summary**

**Role and Responsibilities**
- Full cycle accounting functions typical of a mature startup company.
- Performance of month end/year end functions, such as preparation of financial statements, working papers, accruals & adjustments.
- Accurate and timely monthly and year end close processes.
- Financial analysis for efficiencies and effectiveness.
- Invoicing reviews to ensure revenues are captured and optimized.
- Prepare and file GST/HST, and WCB reporting, payroll taxes, and other applicable remittances.
- Timely calculations and payment of remittances for corporate taxes, payroll source deductions and WCB requirements.
- Prepare and maintain monthly working paper files to support financial statements.
- Prepare and post journal entries, as required.
- Reconciliations and adjustment of general ledger accounts.
- Review bank reconciliations, daily deposits, and collections.
- Prepare reports for other departments and operations leaders.
- Assist in the preparation and collection of necessary documentation for external audits and reviews.

**Requirements**:

- Diploma or Degree along with a CPA designation is strongly encouraged.
- Minimum 5+ years full cycle accounting experience.
- Strong technology background, including strong knowledge in QuickBooks.
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, practices, tax laws, and industry reporting requirements.
- Desire to learn, and be involved in, operational and risk management decisions.
- Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Advanced computer literacy, including effective working skills in the Microsoft environment (EXCEL, WORD, and potentially data warehouse platforms, etc.).
- Ability to adapt to and lean new software and improved technology solutions.
- Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently.
- High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, and/or facts.

**Work Conditions**
- Based in Ottawa, with periodic weekly in-person attendance at Aero HygenX head office.
- Flexible hours and remote work opportunity
- Ability to attend and conduct presentations.
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
