The Men’s Group Facilitator position will deliver psycho-educational group counselling to clients directed by the justice system to attend in response to: a criminal charge involving domestic abuse, redirection by a community agency, or a self-referral. This programming provides clients with an opportunity to examine their beliefs and attitudes towards domestic abuse and to learn non-abusive ways of resolving conflict.

**SKILLS |COMPETENCIES**

A Men’s Group Facilitator is responsible for supporting participants to reach decisions and accomplish goals. Your duties include working with groups to clarify meeting content, objectives and to establish ground rules that govern behavior. Facilitator duties also involve selecting appropriate methods and tools that will enable participants to achieve results. When problems or issues come up, facilitators work with the group to resolve conflict and return to goals. Other duties as a group facilitator include creating environments that allow civil dialogue and input from all participants and above all, remaining neutral throughout the process.

A Men’s Group Facilitator must be comfortable with working with group dynamics while managing the session or activity process. Facilitators are also skilled at introducing a variety of strategies to keep the process structured without interfering with group productivity.

This position requires an individual with an understanding of Intimate Partner Violence from a gendered analysis, and the ability to explain and engage in reflective thinking regarding how this impacts women and children as the predominant victims.
