**About Canucks Autism Network (CAN)**

Canucks Autism Network (CAN) is a charitable organization dedicated to providing programs for individuals on the autism spectrum and their families, while promoting acceptance and inclusion through community engagement and training initiatives across BC. Our vision is for every individual on the autism spectrum to be understood, accepted, and supported in all community spaces.

We engage a workforce of over 200 volunteers and 450 frontline staff to deliver programs for children, youth, and adults on the spectrum in communities across British Columbia. Since its inception in 2008, CAN has directly impacted over 8,000 members on the autism spectrum.

**About the Position**

**Key Functions (Main aspects of the position)**

**Deliver live training workshops on behalf of CAN**
- Deliver content as written by CAN, including messaging contained in speaker notes
- Communicate the mission, vision and values of the organization
- Respond to audience questions in accordance with CAN messaging and philosophy
- Demonstrate and foster awareness and acceptance of autism
- Model a positive, supportive attitude for attendees, while strongly encouraging inclusion in community spaces and facilitating conversation about practical solutions
- Pick up appropriate training-related materials from the CAN Office when necessary
- Review and rehearse training presentation prior to delivering training workshop
- Communicate with host organization about logístical details of training workshops (i.e. contact and access information, available AV equipment, etc.)
- Submit self-evaluations and training workshop feedback in a timely manner

**General**
- Maintain a high degree of professionalism in interactions with CAN program staff, volunteers, and target audience members at all times
- Attend regular meetings and trainings with the Manager of Training
- Receive and implement feedback from Manager of Training

**Requirements**:
Education and Experience
- Post-Secondary education in a related field such as sport and recreation, kinesiology, special education, psychology, etc.
- Valid BC Driver’s license
- Minimum of one year experience in CAN programming required (equivalent experience may be considered)
- Previous public speaking experience is an asset

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Passionate about Canucks Autism Network and its values and vision
- Ability to project enthusiasm and energy
- Confident speaking in front of groups
- Strong teaching skills. Ability to model skills and provide feedback.
- A collaborative relationship builder with community partners and stakeholders
- High degree of professionalism
- Strong knowledge of behaviour support strategies
- Ability to receive and implement performance feedback
- Willingness to travel around the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley
