The successful applicant will also possess effective communication and interpersonal skills, will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and will have strong attention to detail and accuracy.

**Qualifications**:

- Graduate of a recognized community college Communicative Disorders Assistant graduate certificate program required

**Skill, Ability and Experience**:

- Experience in a Communication Disorders Department in a clinical / health care setting preferred
- Experience in adult neurogenic communication disorders and dysphagia preferred
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written required
- Proven organizational and time management skills, with strong attention to detail and ability to effectively multi-task required
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team required
- Demonstrated commitment to Patient & Family Centred Care required
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary patient care team required
- Experience working with an electronic medical record preferred
- Basic level proficiency with Microsoft Office preferred

**Principal Duties**:

- Conducts speech, language, cognitive-communication and dysphagia therapy with patients as planned and managed by the Speech-Language Pathologist
- Records data relative to client performance and reports changes in client performance / status to the supervising speech-language pathologist
- Prepares clinical materials as required
- Maintains equipment as required
- Prepares appropriate communication aids
- Participates in unit/department and Hospital Quality Improvement initiatives
- Completes continuing education requirements as necessary
- Other related duties as assigned
