**What You’ll Do**:
**Acquisition and Collection**:
- Order and manage library materials across various formats.
- Utilize automated vendor systems for efficient order processing.
- Renew subscriptions, claim purchases, and catalog gifts to enhance our collection.
- Ensure the upkeep of the library’s holdings through strategic withdrawals and updates.
**Inter-library Loan**:
- Provide excellent inter-library loan services to University patrons.
- Handle borrowing and lending requests with precision and efficiency.
- Investigate and resolve queries from diverse users, staff, and institutions.
**Metadata Creation and Management**:
- Produce high-quality bibliographic metadata following international standards.
- Contribute to creating inclusive metadata aligning with equity, diversity, and inclusion goals.
**Access and Discovery Management**:
- Facilitate access to library resources through effective metadata creation.
- Manage electronic resource access, activation, linking, and troubleshooting.
**Data Extraction and Analysis**:
- Manage textual data with specialized tools and perform metadata remediation.
- Analyze and edit metadata to improve search experiences and support scholarly projects
**Library Contributions and Professional Development**:
- Collaborate within library working groups, teams, and committees.
- Stay updated on industry trends and developments.
- Liaise with the university community and external clients.

Position Requirements
**What You’ll Bring to the Position**:
- Grade 12 combined with an undergraduate degree from an accredited university.
- A Library Technician Diploma is required.
- Minimum of five years progressively responsible experience preferably within a university library environment, directly related to the duties described.
- Combination of education and experience may be considered.
**Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in this Role**:
- Expert knowledge of metadata standards, rules, and controlled vocabularies including but not limited to AACR2, RDA, LC Classification, and LCSH.
- Expert knowledge of and experience with MARC21.
- Expert knowledge of and experience with research bibliographic
citations.
- Experience with non-MARC metadata such as Dublin Core.
- Demonstrated, expert experience with an integrated library system and discovery service, searching bibliographic utilities, searching research databases, Interlibrary Loans/Document Deliveries systems, and Acquisitions/Publishers online systems.
- High degree of proficiency with managing textual data with spreadsheets and specialized tools such as MARCEdit, Airtable, OpenRefine.
- Exceptional ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English, and demonstrate active listening skills.
- Must have the ability to exercise a considerable degree of judgement and discretion regarding sensitive and confidential matters and materials.

- Proven organizational and time-management skills.
