**Position**:Summer Student - Early Childhood Educator - Preschool

The Candora Society of Edmonton has an employment opportunity for an Early Childhood Educator - Preschool. This is a temporary full-time position (30 hours per week) for 9 weeks. As part of the Summer Program team, the Early Childhood Educator - Preschool will support Candora’s summer family programs including community events, family field trips, and other activities. This opportunity is being funded through the Government of Canada’s Summer Jobs program and is for someone between 15 and 30 looking to gain experience working in human services.

The Candora Society is a non-profit organization with a community development mandate to work with the residents of Northeast Edmonton to create a positive environment for families to live and grow and to collectively address issues of concern in our communities. The organization has a long history of grass-roots community development that is built upon a participatory learning approach and relationship
- based practice to help affect positive change in the lives of individuals, families, and communities.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Support the recruitment and registration of families for Candora’s Preschool Summer Program.
- Directly facilitate activities alongside Candora Staff in a respectful, supportive, and engaging manner.
- Work directly with the Children’s Special Events Organizer and Candora Staff to implement Candora’s Summer Program.
- Support the development and implementation of planned activities including purchasing and preparing supplies, creating tools, and preparing activity locations.
- Monitoring sign-ups for buses.
- Preparing preschool snacks/meals.
- Assist preparing lunches for field trips.
- Admin tasks and reporting.
- Incorporating Indigenous programming.
- Attend team meetings.

**Qualifications, Skills & Competencies**
- Knowledge of community development or experience is considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Drive.
- Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal and team skills.
- Self-directed, and an ability to collaborate well with other team members.
- Commitment to the vision, mission, values, and beliefs of the Candora Society.
- Strong orientation to community oriented, relationship-based work including an awareness of and sensitivity to issues of participants/community members.
- Clear understanding of professional boundaries and ethics.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Police Security Check and Child Welfare Check are required.
- Must be between 15 - 30 years of age at the start of employment.
- Must be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee status.
- Valid Social Insurance Number, that does not start with a 9. International youth are not eligible participants.

**Employment type**:Temporary position will end after 9-week term

**Hours of work**:Monday - Thursday (8:30 am - 4:30 pm) 30 hours per week

**Expected Start Date**: June 17, 2024

**Wage**: $15.00/hour
