**The salary range for this position is**:
**Recruitment range: $71,308 - $80,259** starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.

**Performance range: starting salary to max of $93,586** is available through annual performance increases.
- Job SummaryReporting to the IACE Associate Director, and indirectly to the OSL Manager, Student Supports the Indigenous Student Support Coordinator (ISSC) is responsible for planning and coordinating student education, prevention, intervention, and support efforts across campus and community systems for Indigenous students in general and specifically Indigenous at risk and those facing crisis.

The ISSC plays a key role in the response to complex/high-risk student issues including:

- serving as a university central point of contact for liaising with Indigenous students/families in complex student matters;
- gathering information on complex and multi-dimensional student matters in order to help identify support/resource options for Indigenous students;
- providing ongoing support and guidance for Indigenous students impacted by behaviours and actions that contravene important university policies including: Non-Academic Misconduct, Harassment and Discrimination, and Sexualized Violence;
- coordinating care, implementing referrals and following-up on student issues requiring case management support.

The ISSC enhances student success and retention by:
(a) providing dedicated advice to Indigenous student who are experiencing a variety of significant emotional, social, behavioural and non-academic concerns;
(b) helping such students identify and understand their options to make informed decisions;
(c) providing critical non-academic case management support and coordination for students with complex needs;
(d) providing expertise, consultation and advice in the management of complex student matters which may include assisting students in significant distress or students experiencing trauma to understand their options;
(e) managing early intervention and response practices to ensure consistent trauma informed practice;
(f) implementing effective case management processes that align with various university policies, practices and strategic plans;
(g) working with other units and Faculties to create plans for assisting 2.0 and lower GPA students;
(h) working directly with bands and funding agencies to create student success strategies;
(i) integrating Indigenous knowledge and cultural teachings into student support programming and support;
(j) works to develop a vibrant and inclusive community at the First Peoples house that will enhance student's learning experiences.

The ISSC will possess a demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage a diverse caseload. This position requires excellence in the facilitation of on-campus and community referrals, care coordination, planning and crisis management.

This position works as a team with other IACE and OSL staff to ensure the timely sharing of relevant information and engages in informal and formal interactions and team meetings in order to contribute to coordination and team effectiveness. As with all IACE and OSL staff, the Coordinator of Indigenous Student Support participates in learning and professional development opportunities and contributes to the knowledge exchange and quality improvement initiatives.

Of critical importance to this position is an intimate knowledge of Indigenous ways of knowing and being. Cultural competency, including an in-depth understanding of colonization, decolonization, land issues, cultural protocols, and settler/Indigenous relationships is essential.

This positon will support programs, initiatives and events hosted by IACE that may take place in the evenings or on the weekends and requires the ability and willingness to work these hours as required.
