**Position**

The Functional Analyst plays a key role in supporting undergraduate and graduate student services focused portfolios in the Faculties of ALES, Engineering and Science and managing system linkages to the Registrar’s Office (RO), Office of the Dean of Students (DOS), Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research (FGSR) and University of Alberta International (UAI), by blending their knowledge of student service practices and operational support with expertise in an array of student systems utilized by the University’s community. These include Campus Solutions, Slate, Bear Tracks, Electronic Document Records Management System - Alfresco, Ad Astra, Symplicity Advocate, Tableau and FreshService.

The Functional Analyst is responsible for the system configuration that ensures the student services related processes run efficiently, accurately, and on time. Covering functional areas such as class scheduling, final exam scheduling, course registration, the student record, academic standing, convocation, and student service, it is essential that system configuration and processes are properly managed. Incorrect setup can have significant impacts to students, staff, and the University.

**Duties**
- Serves as a bridge between business processes and system functionality for units in the College.
- Supports and implements process automation for high volume processes and tasks.
- Builds meaningful relationships with client groups and stakeholders in order to provide day-to-day advice and support to business management, business users, and on-campus stakeholders related to student systems and system functionality.
- Supports consultation of business users and stakeholders to capture business requirements, providing options, advice, and/or recommendations regarding system solutions or changes.
- Initiates and coordinates operational processes (e.g., batch processes), taking into consideration operational requirements and timelines, as well as stakeholder impacts.
- Participates in system upgrades, the design and development of new modules and/or processes, and the implementation of new solutions that will enhance business processes and user experience for student services units.
- Informs and supports change management strategies to ensure successful implementation of new systems, functionality, and features.
- Investigates and analyzes data requests to determine expected outcomes, business/stakeholder requirements, and the best method for generating and accessing the information.
- Informs the identification of key performance indicators that can support the measurement and monitoring of business performance toward strategic goals.
- Develops queries and/or compiles data from relevant sources per the expected outcomes and requirements. Distribute results and/or provide appropriate access to the queries to enable self-service for business users in the future.
