**Position Overview**

Apex Fabrication and Supply is a recognized leader in the industry, known for being a premier producer of fire sprinkler systems, serving clients both in Canada and the United States.

The Production Manager (PM) plays a pivotal role in ensuring the highest level of efficiency, risk mitigation, and profitability within the production department. As the PM, you will be instrumental in establishing and enforcing policies, optimizing scheduling, and providing strong leadership to foster a high-performing team. Your primary focus will be on elevating staff performance, enhancing productivity, ensuring exceptional quality in our output, and upholding rigorous health and safety standards.

**Tasks & Responsibilities**:

- **Leadership and Team Management**: As the Production Manager, you will lead, inspire, and motivate a diverse team of production and logistics professionals. Your ability to foster teamwork, provide clear direction, and empower your team members will be key to achieving departmental and organizational goals.
- **Health and Safety Champion**: Safety is our top priority. You will take a proactive approach to health and safety, championing a culture of safety awareness, ensuring compliance with regulations, and mitigating potential risks to create a secure work environment for all team members.
- **Policies and Procedures**: You will be responsible for creating, implementing, and enforcing standardized policies and procedures that enhance operational efficiency and ensure consistency in production processes. Your expertise will drive process improvements that align with industry best practices.
- **Scheduling and Resource Management**: The successful execution of production plans hinges on effective scheduling and resource allocation. Your role involves strategizing, planning, and allocating resources to meet production demands while optimizing production line uptime and minimizing downtime.
- **Quality Control and Assurance**: Ensure adherence to quality control standards and production guidelines. Your vigilant oversight and attention to detail will ensure that our output consistently meets or exceeds customer expectations. You will implement quality control measures and oversee quality assurance processes.
- **Operational Efficiency**: Your expertise in process optimization will be instrumental in enhancing operational efficiency across all production lines. You will identify areas for improvement, implement Lean methodologies, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- **Union Relations and Collective Agreement**: Work closely with union representatives to foster positive labour relations, address workforce concerns, and negotiate mutually beneficial solutions. Ensure proper adherence to the collective agreement terms and conditions, promoting a harmonious working environment.
- **Resource and Material Coordination**: Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement and sales & customer care, to streamline production and shipping processes.
- **Communication and Employee Engagement**: Maintain open and effective communication with staff, addressing issues related to quality, production, safety, equipment, or environment on the shop floor. Encourage employee engagement and provide coaching, training, and corrective action as necessary.
- **Preventive Maintenance and Cleanliness**: Develop and Oversee the complete implementation of the preventive maintenance plan, ensuring the reliability of equipment.
- **Risk Management**: Manage risks to minimize losses and maximize profits, evaluating and adjusting policies and procedures as needed for effective operations.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's degree in Operation Management, Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience in production management, with a track record of operational improvements and team leadership.
- Strong knowledge of production processes, quality control, and safety standards.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and manage diverse teams.
- Proficiency in process optimization, Lean methodologies, and continuous improvement strategies.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to manage resources effectively and optimize production line utilization.
- Familiarity with relevant software tools for production planning and resource management.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills
- Proficient in MS Office and ERP software
- Strong decision-making skills and a results-driven approach
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and drawings.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines.
