**What you’ll do**
- Provide leadership and manage the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs, policies and projects in support of strategic objectives and deliverables related to the Indigenous children and youth population. Maintain responsibility for ensuring that programs and projects are completed in adherence to project protocols/charters/agreements, timelines, applicable institutional and ethical policies and procedures, and pertinent legislation.
- Work closely with provincial partners for the identification, collection and analysis of relevant information/evidence data and synthesizes findings in order to effectively integrate these into the development, implementation, analysis, and policy/practice implications of strategic programs, policies and initiatives to support the provincial mandate and PHSA action plan objectives related to health and well-being of indigenous children and youth.
- Advise and provide recommendations internally regarding Indigenous children and youth health promotion and prevention strategies, initiatives and projects to improve health outcomes. Monitor and evaluate child health promotion resources and tools across the continuum of care and recommend and implement changes.
- Identify gaps in services and resources including possible risks and how to address these gaps while providing province wide standard care. Ensure alignment with partners’ priorities and leverages opportunities. Lead and/or advise strategic program teams, related working groups, and advisory committees to achieve targeted goals/objectives of strategic programs and related projects and policies, and to build and strengthen relationships with key partners and stakeholders.
- Establish and maintain communication with various stakeholders to determine the needs of the community as related to indigenous children and youth. Identify areas and opportunities for the implementation of evidence-based education on the principles of Indigenous cultural safety, patient experience, community engagement, amongst child and youth Indigenous populations through networking, collaboration, and awareness of community needs for Child Heath BC.
- Represent CHBC at various local, provincial and national health promotion committees, projects and organizations.
- Identify critical barriers and issues impacting CHBC’s and PHSA’s commitment to providing culturally safe and family-centered care to Indigenous patients, clients, and families by assessing outcomes, gathering formal and informal data, recommending corrective actions, and leading and supporting actions.
- Build partnerships with Indigenous communities, agencies, and groups across BC, in conjunction with the directors and staff, regarding Indigenous health issues, with the goal of optimizing opportunities for collaboration and ensuring an integrated and coordinated approach to improving health care, cultural safety and patient experience.

**What you bring**

**Qualifications**:

- Pursuant to section 41 of the British Columbia Human Rights Code, preference will be given to applicants of Indigenous Ancestry.
- A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master’s degree in Nursing, Health Administration, Social Justice, Transformative Organizational change or a related field, and a minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years recent related experience with experience in program management, facilitating and managing consultation processes with a wide range of groups including Indigenous health organizations including two years’ experience in a progressively responsible leadership role.
- Completion of Indigenous Cultural Safety training is required for this position.

You will also have
- Experience working with networks, coalitions and multi-partnered projects in a healthcare environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian colonial impacts on Indigenous people in social and health contexts, supported by significant knowledge of Canadian and Indigenous ideologies.
- Demonstrated extensive knowledge of health issues, and especially the health determinants of health, legislation, and public policy affecting Indigenous people.
- Knowledge and appreciation of the unique history, cultures, and rights of Indigenous Peoples in Canada is required.
- Lived experience with Indigenous populations and demonstrated extensive knowledge of Indigenous health care needs, services, and issues as well as knowledge of culture, protocols, and traditions, and ideology of Indigenous people and organizations in British Columbia is an asset.
- Experience or working knowledge of health systems and policy, organizational change, anti-Indigenous racism, resistance to change, population health, illness prevention, health promotion, knowledge exchange, and change management.
