**Salary**: $3,241.74 to $4,362.44 bi-weekly ($84,609 - $113,859/year)

The **Trade, Investment and Food Safety Division (TIFS)** expands and diversifies Alberta’s food and bio-product manufacturing sector in local and global markets while also providing effective food safety assurance systems.

The **Food and Bio-Processing Branch (FBPB)** provides scientific and technical expertise, business development services and specialized facilities to support product/process development, scale up and commercialization of food and non-food products for companies serving local, national, and global markets.

**Role Responsibilities**:

- Reporting to the Executive Director, as the Food Safety Manager, you will provide strategic leadership in managing food safety and operational policies for the Alberta Food Centre. In collaboration with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), you will:

- Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with food safety and preventive control programs.
- Manage federal registrations, licenses, and certifications, ensuring the Alberta Food Centre operates within regulatory standards.
- Supervise and train centre staff, clients and tenants on food safety protocols and preventive control measures.
- Act as the primary liaison with clients, tenants, regulatory bodies, and internal teams to ensure food safety and operational integrity.
- Support Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) initiatives to maintain safe work environments.
- Supervise a team of food safety specialists.

**Qualifications**:

- University graduation preferably in Food Science, Microbiology and Agriculture, or a related field as Biology.
- Four (4) years of experience in food processing facilities, including managerial experience.

**Preference will be given to those who have the following**:

- Proficiency in HACCP principles and preventive control plan development.
- In-depth knowledge of CFIA Safe Food for Canadians regulations and government policies on food processing.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across diverse groups.
- Strong project management, organizational, and conflict-resolution abilities.

- Familiarity with food processing operations and regulatory compliance.
- Previous experience in facility management within government-regulated environments.

- Monday to Friday (8:15 to 4:30 pm).
- Flexible start/end times may be considered.
- This position may be required to work some occasional evenings and weekends when responding to food safety or other events.
