Financial Aid and Awards Information Specialist

**What You’ll Be Doing**
- Providing immediate, accurate, specific advice and guidance to complex issues as related to OSAP policies, regulations, and processes, after analysis of all MCU systems, ONe-key portal and Sheridan’s Student Information System (SIS), and student awards via the Sheridan Awards Management System while keeping abreast of ever-changing OSAP policies;
- Supporting Financial Aid Advisors with the review/processing of numerous OSAP work queues to manage peak period volumes (e.g. OSAP signature pages, full-time/part-time OSAP cost code information, and continuation of interest-free status (CIFS), student profile updates);
- Processing student refunds from Finance in accordance with OSAP policies and recording on SIS and OSAP ONe-key after analysing student’s Sheridan account & OSAP funding. Liaising with the National Student Loan Service Centre (NSLSC) to ensure refunds are posted correctly towards student loan or grant overpayments in accordance with OSAP policies.
- Participating in Sheridan events as Financial Aid & Awards representative (e.g., Open House, New Student Orientation, financial literacy workshops);
- Maintaining retention and archival processes of all campus-specific documentation (i.e.: paper and electronic format), in accordance with MCU policies and procedures as well as Sheridan's established Records and Information Management policy and procedure Other related duties as assigned.

- 3-year diploma/degree in the field of public relations, social service, communications, accounting, business or related field, along with 2-years of practical experience in a public relations or customer service role in a busy service environment processing a wide variety of transactions. Equivalency will be considered.
- Demonstrated experience in financial analysis, preparing personal budgets, and discussing financial information with customers.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Excel, and Word). Experience with PeopleSoft Information System, Ministry on-line Financial Aid system, and previous work in an educational institution will be considered an asset.
