**Position Title**
- Project Manager, Centres for Manufacturing and Energy Innovation**Position Summary**
- Do you have expertise in project management? The Centres for Manufacturing & Energy Innovation invites you to become their new Project Manager- Reporting to the Director, Centres for Manufacturing & Energy Innovation, the Project Manager oversees all aspects of projects, sets deadlines, assigns work and responsibilities, and monitors and summarizes progress of the project, builds, and maintains working relationships with team members and external partners involved in the projects. The Project Manager prepares reports for and presents status updates to the Director and is accountable to deliver project portfolio financial and workload efficiencies as defined in the project proposal.**Position Responsibilities**

**Project Management & Delivery**
- Develops work plans, identifying all tasks necessary to complete project work streams by working collaboratively with stakeholders to define project scope, schedules, and deliverables
- Provides hands-on project management leadership including developing and implementing project governance practices and framework (practices, processes, and artifacts) that are in alignment with project partner(s’) expectations including the Executive Sponsor and Project Owner
- Executes projects and resources, both people and financial, ensuring results are found and implemented effectively and efficiently
- Manages and identifies project risks and issues while escalating challenges to the Director as required
- Leads projects with a_ People First_ approach to effectively deliver results, encourage team cohesion and growth, maintain vendor-client relationships, and sustain project team motivation and commitment

**Financial Project Support**
- Tracks and monitors all industrial research projects and effective administration of financial activities and or grant administrative functions for centre
- Monitors and maintains all industrial research project budgets in accordance with the requirements of Red Deer Polytechnic and external funders, and in consultation with the Operations Manager
- Leads purchasing initiatives for the centres ensuring purchases meet funder eligibility requirements and proper purchasing process as outlined by the funder and Red Deer Polytechnic
- Coordinates the collection, tracking, and reporting of performance metrics for internal and external reporting purposes
- Tracks all financial operations/reporting requirements related to internal and external funding portfolio and creates monthly status reports for the research management team
- Maintains current and historical project financial records
- Reconciles expenditures against approved budgets and coordinates, prepares, and submits all documentation required for financial reporting including back-up documentation in support of the Operations Manager
- Coordinates and assists with the completion and submission of reporting for the centres, both financial and narrative, collaborating with departments across the institution as needed to submit reports as required by the terms of awards/contracts, third party requests and funder deadlines

**Personnel Development and Management**
- Identifies resource requirements for project teams, assessing current resources and addressing required changes as required.
- Collaborates on the development of project teams including recruiting and selecting resources to be assigned to project teams based on, but not limited to, the individual(s’) current and desired competencies levels and opportunities for professional development.
- Delegates and assigns work within the project teams where appropriate.
- Mentors and trains Centres employees; providing leadership in the areas of project management, change management and continuous improvement.

**Centres of Innovation Health & Safety Program**
- Supports development of standard operating procedures based on equipment user manuals and consultations with Subject Matter Experts. Integrates various sources of information into a uniform language
- Coordinates the review, approval, and revision of standard operating procedures
- Maintains hazard assessments and standard operating procedures by working with Subject Matter Experts to rewrite, clarify, or reconstruct controlled documents
- Ensures a safe and healthy work environment by complying with polytechnic health and safety policies, standard practices, and programs in keeping with occupational health & safety legislation and regulations
- Represents Centres at Health and Safety Committee (Division Level)

**Continuous Learning & Improvement**
- Stays current on trends in project management and applied research relevant to the Centres operations and shares knowledge
