**Job purpose**

The 2SGLBTQ+ Support Worker is responsible for providing support and appropriate referrals for 2SLGBTQ+ youth, adults, and their families within the community without judgement. The 2SLGBTQ+ Support Worker provides community and agency education on Gender & Sexual Diversity, and STBBI as it relates to 2SLGBTQ+ individuals.

**Duties and responsibilities**
- Engage with community members regarding possible educational opportunities
- Create and present educational resources, based in research, to community groups in an approachable and professional manner.
- Create appropriate presentations tailored to audience.
- Help with community engagements, planning, awareness events, 2SLGBTQ+ specific testing events, and committee work when appropriate.
- Use non-judgmental approach when engaging with clients and community.
- Plan and prepare for and facilitate a weekly drop in 2SLGBTQ+ youth and adult group.
- Decide on activities for groups for the upcoming month.
- Create a calendar of events to be shared on social media.
- Attend and participate in group activities.
- Building relationships with 2SLGBTQ+ human service organizations to develop partnerships that strengthen our collective capacity to provide STBBI prevention and support initiatives for 2SLGBTQ+ people in and around the North Zone.
- Provide opportunities for social connection, system navigation, referrals, and other strategies to address social determinants of health as needed.
- Participate in ongoing program evaluation and reporting processes as required.
- Research practices for continuous professional development.
- Research areas that would be helpful for our presentations as we engage with youth and community members.
- Research and implement best practices as an educator.

**Qualifications**

Qualifications and competencies include:

- Completion of post-secondary school or currently enrolled in social work, social services, or other relevant field.
- Experience in teaching/facilitation of small and large groups.
- Knowledge of HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, Syphilis, and other STBBI.
- Adaptability.

- Teamwork.

**Working conditions**

The position is Monday - Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm with a half hour for lunch. There may be the occasional off hours task that is scheduled in advance. Standing, sitting, walking, and driving are all expectations of the role. Employee must have access to a reliable, working vehicle as employee is expected to drive to areas for needle debris walks and calls, as well as to community engagements/events/trainings/partners.

**Salary**: $25.00-$27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
