Homeward Trust embraces the Housing First philosophy. This philosophy follows the principles of finding housing accommodations first and then establishing the support required by the participant to remain in a home. Homeward Trust Edmonton’s programs involve housing (such as capital project funding, property management, and sourcing access to new or existing units for participant use) and supportive services to individuals in or seeking access to housing programs.

**Position Summary**

The People & Culture Coordinator will be responsible for providing operational P & C support to the People & Culture Director. This role will assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures. They will own the onboarding program and are vital to the inaugural experience of all new Homeward Trust employees. This position will assist with recruitment, training, payroll & benefits, health and safety, and other areas as directed.

This position will collaborate with various team members within the organization, including Administrative Assistants in other departments and Advisors on the P & C team.

**Education and Experience**
- Graduate of a recognized post-secondary institution with a focus on Business, Human Resources or another related field required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of Human Resources experience.
- Equivalencies in formal education and experience will be considered.
- Prior work in the not-for-profit industry is preferred.
- Someone who takes initiative and is always looking for a new way of improving the culture

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
- The ability to think outside of the box and become a culture creator
- Must be able to work under pressure, to multi-task, and meet deadlines.
- Completion of assigned work with mínimal supervision is important.
- Exceptional writing skills and ability to create presentations, including job descriptions, guides for new and prospective employees, onboarding, policies, etc.
- An open and collaborative team player who is most successful in creating and building alongside peers in a fun feedback-driven team environment.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Assist the P & C Director with various projects such Policy and Process development, Employee Engagement, Performance Management, Succession Planning & Retention initiatives.
- Assist in the planning, coordination and monitoring of project implementation phases, ensuring that projects will meet the set deadlines.
- Responsible for the coordination and logístical aspects of P & C initiated events such as staff events, training sessions and other initiatives.
- Represent P & C Department in collaboration with Communications team to contribute to internal websites, postings, training videos and recruitment events.
- In partnership with the P & C Advisors support the Homeward Trust and Find Leaders on matters such as employee relations, progressive discipline, performance management, and workplace investigations.
- Join and be an active member of the Health & Safety Committee of Find - attend meetings and participate actively in health and safety discussion, follow-up on status of outstanding OH&S issues.
- Maintain a close working relationship with other administrative staff and other departments within the organization.
- Other duties may be as assigned as required._

**Measures of Success**
- Develop a strong understanding of the landscape in which Homeward Trust operates, including the organization’s structure, partners, history, and priorities.
- Build strong, trusting, and collaborative relationships with Homeward Trust’s People & Culture Director, P & C team, management team members, and employees.
- Develop and foster strong, transparent, trusting, and collaborative relationships with external stakeholders, including benefits providers.
- Contribute ideas, strive to grow and provide feedback in a dynamic team setting.
