- Wednesday, March 27, 2024 - 15:30The Collections Services Librarian reports to the Head of Acquisitions and Bibliographic Services and works closely with the Associate University Librarian. Librarians at Leddy Library engage in service to the university and the profession, and in research, scholarship, and creative activity in addition to their assigned responsibilities.

As part of a team of librarians in the Acquisitions and Bibliographic Services Department, the Collections Services Librarian will:

- perform collection development duties, including collection evaluation and selection;
- collect, organize, and analyze data to support evidence-based decision-making for developing and managing the collections, and for reporting purposes;
- participate in the development of strategic approaches and processes to guide how collections are developed and maintained, within the context of a changing scholarly publishing system and its emerging issues;
- communicate, consult, and collaborate regularly with colleagues throughout the library, librarians and staff from provincial and national consortia, as well as library users across disciplines;
- participate in collections-focused work as a member of working groups for national and provincial consortia; and
- a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree from an American Library Association-accredited program, or an equivalent program;
- an ability to thrive both independently and collaboratively within an evolving organizational environment, exhibiting a proactive approach to tasks while effectively communicating and coordinating with team members;
- strong written and verbal communication skills;
- demonstrated comfort and ability to learn new technologies;
- resourcefulness, innovation, and flexibility in meeting user needs;
- knowledge of the collection development or collection management practices;
- knowledge of current and emerging trends in electronic resource licensing, management, and delivery, including the role of consortial partnerships in collections services;
- knowledge of standards and systems used for bibliographic control, such as: Library of Congress Classification (LCC), Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH), Resource Description and Access (RDA), and MARC 21;
- experience with data collection and analysis with the goal of discovering useful information, informing conclusions, and supporting decision-making; and
- understanding and demonstration of a commitment to the principles of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Decolonization and Indigenization and the ability to work with a diverse student, staff and faculty population.
