**PolyAnalytik Inc. (PAI) was founded in 2007 with our headquarters at Western University Research Park in London, Ontario, Canada. **Our multidisciplinary team of material science & engineering experts in polymer chemistry, biomedical engineering, and biotechnology have developed extensive experience in providing accurate, reproducible, and validated analytical services to various sectors. We provide expert analytical and regulatory approval support through contract analysis, method development, and validation services to petrochemicals, polymer/plastics, pharmaceutical companies, and research institutions.

**Job Summary**: A **Research Scientist - LCMS & GCMS** is responsible for supporting research projects, performing various tasks such as collecting and analyzing data, preparing research reports, and maintaining accurate records. The Research Scientist will work under the direction of the Analytical Services Manager and collaborate with other research team members.

**Responsibilities**:

- Equipment Maintenance: Responsible for ensuring that the LCMS & GCMS instrumentation operates optimally. This involves routine maintenance and troubleshooting of the equipment to keep it in good working condition.
- Data Analysis: Responsible for analyzing LCMS & GCMS data generated from various experiments, including sample preparation, separation, and detection. This involves using various software tools to process and interpret the data.
- Quality Control: Responsible for ensuring that the LCMS & GCMS systems and methods meet the required quality standards. This includes performing validation experiments, following standard operating procedures, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Quality Assurance: Responsible for developing processes that adhere to GLP and ISO requirements but developing procedures and protocols for validated methodologies.
- Leadership: Responsible for leading a team of scientists or technicians involved in LCMS & GCMS work, providing guidance, training, and supervision as needed.
- Innovation: Responsible for identifying and implementing new technologies or approaches to improve LCMS & GCMS methods and instrumentation.

**Other responsibilities**:

- Interact with clients and other stakeholders as needed to present results and further elaborate on experimental findings.
- Perform complementary analysis such as GPC, NMR, FTIR, SEM, UV/Vis, HPLC, GC, Viscometry and Rheology.
- Prepare internal presentations.
- Interact with internal departments (Analytical Services, Sales and Marketing, Business Development, R&D, etc.)
- Lead and/or participate in functions required to ensure the success of the department or market segment team.
- Participate in sales efforts to discuss capabilities and service offerings with potential clients and collaborators.
- Travel to other PolyAnalytik sites, client sites, scientific trade shows and conferences for instrument installs, method development, and sales and marketing efforts as needed.
- Act as liaison with other academic, public, and private institutions and organizations to meet internal and external project requirements.
- Lead efforts with instrument manufacturers and service facilities to ensure instrument operations meet the quality standards required.

**Qualifications**:

- Education: A Ph.D. in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology, or a related field is required. A master’s degree with extensive experience may be considered.
- Relevant experience: Several years of experience working in a laboratory setting. Experience with LCMS & GCMS, NMR, GC, HPLC, UV/Vis, FT-IR instrumentation and related software are essential, as well as experience with sample preparation, data analysis, interpretation and report writing.
- Technical skills: Deep understanding of LCMS & GCMS principles, as well as experience with a range of LCMS techniques, such as high-resolution MS, quantitative analysis, and data processing. Additionally, experience with other analytical techniques, such as HPLC or GC-MS, can be advantageous.
- Communication skills: Communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders, both verbally and in writing. Able to present complex scientific information clearly and concisely.
- Leadership skills: Expected to lead a team of scientists or technicians, including the ability to motivate and manage people effectively.
- Publications: A strong record of peer-reviewed journal publications is required.
- Possess proficiency in writing technical reports and preparing presentations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team environment.
- Possess excellent time management skills to manage multiple projects at once.
