Brokerage Pricing Specialist

The **Brokerage Pricing Specialist’s (BPS)** primary responsibility will be to support Logistics revenue and volume growth through the development of new business opportunities. The BPS will be responsible for providing market pricing to respond to customer RFPs for contact pricing. The BPS is a highly collaborative role to produce competitive, sustainable transportation solutions for customers. The role works together with the sales team and Bison’s brokerage. The BPS will possess strong interpersonal skills with a desire to win and onboard new business. The BPS will be trained in freight brokerage to possess understanding of Logistics Operations.
**Specific Responsibilities include**:
1) Logistics Opportunity Management & RFP Pricing Process
- Connect with Logistics brokerage leaders to review and understand growth areas and targets.
- Attend stakeholder meetings and engage sales team to identify and understand customer key value props that meet the specific customer requirements and expectations.
- Review customer RFP lane mix and identify lanes that fit desired areas of Brokerage growth.
- Provide RFP results feedback to Brokerage leaders.
- Price and win freight contracts at rates that allow the freight brokerage to be profitable.
2) Engineering Operating Plans
- Manage various data points to make educated rate adjustments for various geographies.
- Review the cost/profitability of different operating plans.
- Select and recommend the best bid price for a lane based on the best operating plan.
- Work with brokerage team to communicate target rates required for success.
- Document and store carrier quote information in appropriate systems.
3) Support Logistics Growth Strategy
- Collaborate with regional brokerage leaders to support growth objectives.
- Connect the dots between capacity and opportunity to build traction into new regions.
- Quarterback efforts of Logistics and Sales to sell into identified brokerage capacity.
- Drive profitable business growth.
4) New Business Onboarding Support
- Review and confirm new freight awards.
- Coordinate, confirm and document Operating Plans with Asset and Logistics Leaders.
- Confirm execution requirements and how customer will measure service.
- Confirm new business expectations around service/load volume/profitability.
- Entrepreneurial spirit, business growth-minded.
- Expert on current market conditions.
- Strong negotiating, decision making and organizational skills.
- Sales, Supply Chain and/or Logistics experience considered an asset.
- Ability to demonstrate success using strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical, critical thinking skills & relationship-building skills.
- Proficient with MS Excel.
- The ability to thrive in a fast-pace, deadline-oriented environment.
- Ability to work effectively as an individual contributor and as a member of a dynamic professional team.
- Natural investigative disposition and strong abstract reasoning ability.
- Experience in transportation/logistics and a demonstrated understanding of the industry and business acumen are strong assets.
