**Job Overview**:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Communications Officer to join our team. As a Communications Officer, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing effective communication strategies to promote our organization's mission and goals. You will be responsible for market research, writing and editing content, and ensuring consistent messaging across various communication channels.

**Purpose of the position**:
Working under the guidance and supervision of the Political Advisor/Coordinator, the Communications Officer undertakes communications activities in support of UCTE and the political priorities of the National President, National Vice-President and National Executive.

**List of duties include**:

- Supports the Political Advisor/Coordinator in the development and periodic updating of the UCTE communications strategy.
- Implements relevant elements of the UCTE communications strategy under the guidance of the Political Advisor/Coordinator.
- Publishes and manages the UCTE website.
- Develops and implements digital media strategy for UCTE across multiple platforms and within the overall UCTE communications strategy.
- Supports media relations for UCTE.
- Writes/coordinates articles as required, including overseeing design and layout, translation and distribution.
- Monitor key issues and relevant news and trends of interest to UCTE in the media, including in the digital sphere.
- Provides support to Political Advisor/Coordinator in developing materials for member education, campaigns and projects of UCTE.
- Reviews and coordinates standard UCTE branded products.

**Qualifications**:

- This position requires a university degree or equivalent education, training, and experience.
- Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in communications, preferably within the labour movement.
- Strong research and writing skills in both official languages, particularly in regards of public and media relations.
- Strong working knowledge of labour movement, particularly PSAC.
- Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build long-term professional relationships within the labour movement and with the media.
- Ability to show discretion and diplomacy in interactions.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Good knowledge of the Canadian political landscape.
- Ability to travel to meetings and events as needed.
