**JOB DESCRIPTION**:
As our Manager of Safety and Quality Control, your work will oversee two important pillars of our operations:
The first pillar is oversight of our Gas Technician and Bulk Truck Driver training and safety programs. This position is responsible for Gas Technician training and quality control review of our Gas Technicians' work. This involves field inspections and interaction with Gas Technicians to advise and correct potential errors or omissions.

This position is also responsible for delivering Bulk Truck Driver training and evaluations - including but not limited to TDG, Propane Bulk Ticket, Cylinder Fill Training & requalification. Using your knowledge of relevant regulations, codes, and safety standards; you will be responsible for ensuring our work and deliveries are safe and compliant. This includes becoming a trainer of propane modules, both internal training with staff as well as external training with select customer base.

The second pillar corresponds to the oversight and coordination of the health and safety program. You will need to track staff safety training records, schedule, and deliver safety training programs as required and participate in the Joint Health and Safety Committee.

**DUTIES**:

- Develop training programs to meet observed team training requirements and maximize team capacity in all areas of the business
- Train new staff in proper procedures, gas code and safety regulations
- Prepare and deliver annual safety meetings (Safety Day, Truck Rodeo), seminars, orientation, toolbox talks as necessary
- Maintain and investigate (as needed) accident reports
- Ensure that all safety precautions are exercised
- Maintain safety and job specific training records to ensure all staff are up to date
- Work with the Dispatch and Sales teams to manage the High Risk Account Program
- Chair the Joint Health and Safety Committee and maintain safety boards at all locations (certification will be provided)
- Organize and implement annual first aid training for all staff
- Order and maintain PPE
- Responsible for testing water suppression system
- Arrange and participate in fire department training and simulations
- Creation of new safety policies from time to time, as well as annual review of existing policies

**Service related**:

- Conduct quality assurance inspections for propane gas installations, ensuring compliance with B149 and other related codes
- Monitor ongoing changes in codes, specifically the B149 codes
- Develop and improve the quality assurance programs to evaluate all technicians annually
- Deliver quality assurance evaluations to technicians/drivers and follow through with training as required
- Manage all installation audits by authorities (TSSA, Transport Canada, etd.) governing propane installation compliance
- Other duties may be assigned as required

**Bulk related**:

- Manage training of Bulk Truck Drivers (in class technical and arranging in truck training with Driver Trainers)
- Manage the Bulk Ride-a-Long program
- Available for emergency response (after hours)
- Other duties may be assigned as required

**SKILLS**:

- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Mechanically minded
- Thorough knowledge of typical office procedure, including typing/data entry, electronic/manual records management file systems, customer service, communication, teamwork, initiative, accountability, flexibility, and adaptability
- Organized and can manage several items concurrently, with an emphasis on determining priorities and organizing activities of a diverse work assignment
- Attention to detail to ensure data entry accuracy and quality of work
- Demonstrated ability to research/investigate issues and utilize decision-making skills to resolve problems and escalate when required

**EDUCATION AND TRAINING**:

- Valid G2 gasfitters license (or willing to obtain within agreed time period)
- Liquid Propane (LP) Endorsement is advantageous
- Familiarity with the OHSA or Canada Labour Code II
- Alternative to a Gas technician license would be a mechanical engineering degree with significant HVAC installation experience
- Experience in a supervisory role in the HVAC or trucking industry and implementing successful health and safety policies
