**TITLE**: Assistant Custodial Supervisor (afternoon/evening shift) (Exempt)
**DEPARTMENT**: Facility Services
**REPORTS TO**: Custodial Supervisor
**SALARY RANGE**: $55,910 to $69,888

Reporting to the District Custodial Supervisor, the incumbent provides assistance in the supervision of district custodial crews, spareboard custodians and casual custodial staff, for the training of school custodians and for assisting school personnel in establishing custodial task priorities for schools.
**SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Regularly visits schools to ensure an appropriate standard of cleanliness is being maintained
Assists with the supervision and direction of a large custodial workforce
Assumes responsibility for WHMIS and safe work procedures
Assists with the management of the budget for the district custodial crews, and for spare board and casual custodians
Assists with the recruitment, hiring and training of new custodial staff.
Must travel extensively throughout the school district
Must be able to work flexible shifts and hours including evenings and weekends.
Work primarily during the afternoon and evening
Assists the District Custodial Supervisor with the supervision of the district custodial crews during the school breaks
Assists in the review of flooring needs throughout the district
Assists with building security and building access control functions
Other duties as assigned
**Knowledge and Skills**:
Sound knowledge of occupational health and safety procedures and WorkSafe BC regulatory requirements
Supervisory experience in a unionized environment.
Experience with attendance management, investigations, and disciplinary matters for custodial staff.
Ensure compliance with all relevant WorkSafe BC regulations and that a safe environment is maintained for students, staff and the public;
Superior interpersonal, communication, coaching, team building and conflict resolution skills
Exemplary organization and planning skills
The ability to show leadership and work as a team member to foster a supportive and service-directed climate among employees and departments
Excellent verbal and written skills
Proficiency in Word and Excel programs
**Qualifications**:
Minimum 3 years of experience in the commercial custodial service industry
Grade 12 supplemented with technical training in relevant areas
Valid BC Driver’s License

ABOUT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 57
School District No.57 resides on the unceded ancestral lands of the Lheidli T’enneh First Nations, McLeod Lake Indian Band and the Simpcw First Nations.
Geographically we expand from Mackenzie, through Prince George, to McBride and Valemount. We serve 41 schools: 32 Elementary schools, 8 Secondary schools and 1 District Learning Support center for alternative and alternate learning opportunities.
We provide educational programs for approximately 15,000 students inclusive of early learning, after school art and sports programing, trades programs, and dual credit programs with our local post-secondary schools.
We support Lheidli T’enneh students, McLeod Lake students and Takla students living on reserve through our Local Education Agreements. With each Nation we co-construct the educational services provided to the students while attending a school within our school district.
