The Alberta Motor Transport Association is a province-wide, not-for-profit, advocacy and safety training association that strives to facilitate the safe and efficient transport of people and goods to make life better for Albertans. For more than 80 years, our work has encompassed a broad range of environmental, social, economic, safety and compliance matters that impact provincial highways. Research and innovation is now at the forefront of our projects, enabling the AMTA to identify new technologies and bring key stakeholders together to advance the commercial transportation industry while reducing human and environmental impacts.

**POSITION OBJECTIVE**

As a critical sub-department within Industry Advancement, and within your responsibility, you will review and advise on future technologies. This role requires a strong understanding of the commercial transportation industry, and the ability to contribute to long-range and short-range strategy execution. This position requires an individual comfortable with client interactions and relationships in a variety of AMTA departments.

**ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES**
- The Technology Advisor will work in collaboration within the Industry Advancement department reporting to the Manager of Research and Innovation. This role will identify technological opportunities that align with membership needs and the scope/mandate of the organization’s strategic objectives
- The Technology Advisor will review new technologies, participate in technology trials, collect, and analyze vehicle data, write reports, understand and communicate existing transportation regulatory guidelines
- The Technology Advisor will assist in creating standard operating procedures or training plans that will result in the safe adoption of new technologies

**Assessing Technology and Trends**:

- Identify innovation and growth opportunities with new transportation technologies
- Evaluate and prioritize ideas based on feasibility, impact, and alignment with member needs
- Stay updated on market trends, emerging technologies, and industry best practices
- Identify partnerships and joint ventures with external partners, startups, and industry experts
- Prepare documents that guide business decisions or advance new project opportunities
- Vet manufacturers, suppliers, fuel producers, standard organizations, and industry stakeholders
- Other related duties

**Hydrogen and alternative fuels in transportation**
