**Scope: Vancouver International Film Festival 2023**

**Remuneration: $22,000 Employment contract**

The Greater Vancouver International Film Festival Society is a not-for-profit cultural organization that operates the internationally acclaimed Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF) and the Vancity Theatre, located in the VIFF Centre. We produce screenings, talks and events as a catalyst for a diverse community to discover, discuss and share the creativity and craft of storytelling on screen.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Industry Events Manager oversees a team of curators and staff members responsible for the planning and successful execution of all VIFF Industry festival programs. Complementing VIFF’s showcase of world cinema, with a focus on diverse voices, Industry programming provides platforms for the sharing of insights that deepen the understanding of the craft and process of film and television, sparking and feeding the curiosity of cinephiles and creators alike through conversations, workshops, exhibitions, and events. Current programming includes:

- Talks - Conversations with the world’s best filmmakers, producers, writers, and other senior creatives in film and television.
- AMP - An annual summit on the intersection of film and music. Composers, bands, artists and filmmakers meet to discuss the elevation of both art forms through their connections and collaborations.
- Signals - A unique interactive exhibition, Signals celebrates the creative power, playfulness, and storytelling potential of new technologies.
- Labs
- Intimate hosted dialogue between creators and their peer creative communities about the key issues impacting their work, their lives, and our society.
- LIVE - A celebration of film culture designed to bring a vibrant, multidisciplinary, and once-in-a-lifetime aspect to VIFF’s robust program.

**Qualifications**:

- 5+ years experience in team and staff management.
- 5+ years experience managing budgets.
- 5+ years experience working in festival, event, conference, or film production.
- Proven experience working in a leadership position.
- Commitment to the principles of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong decision-making skills and a results-driven approach.
- Highly organized, focused, and able to work within tight deadlines.
- Fan of the arts; Passion for film, filmmaking, television, music, VR/AR, and education are all assets.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Ultimately responsible for all elements of Industry programs; this includes establishing communication streams, staff workflows, purchasing/renting equipment, overseeing event production, meeting budgetary targets, and ensuring that organizational goals are achieved.
- Oversee the recruiting, hiring, and management of Industry team members.
- Maintain consistent communication and establish reasonable expectations with program curators.
- Manage and be accountable for departmental operating budgets.
- Collaborate and communicate with key staff members and departments to ensure organizational timelines, goals, and needs are addressed.
- Support marketing timelines and ensuring brand alignment.
- Ensure sponsor recognition and partner contractual obligations are fulfilled.
- Communicate and support ticketing and accreditation needs.
- Ensure guest and artist support, with a focus on relationship building.

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 5 months

**Salary**: $4,400.00 per month
