Human Resources Assistant

The Canadian Light Source Inc. (CLSI) is a national research facility of the University of Saskatchewan. CLS produces very bright light to explore the nature and structure of molecules, and serves national and international users from academia, industry, and government institutions.

**Responsibilities**:

- Sends out workflow notifications to internal stakeholders for employee status changes, which includes new hires, transfers or position changes, term extensions, or employee resignations/terminations.
- Provides administrative support in the onboarding of new employees which includes preparing the personnel file, compiling new hire packages, assisting with first-day logistics and office set-up, and scheduling orientation sessions and tours.
- Provides frontline administrative support including, but not limited to, new hire and off-boarding checklists, data entry into various databases, (e.g. WEIMS, CCOHS training account), administering Eco Passes, responding to benefits inquiries, employment confirmation letters, processing employee reimbursements, and submitting purchase requisitions.
- Provides administrative support to various Human Resource programs including Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, performance planning & reviews, employee recognition, employee and labour relations, and learning and development. May be required to attend meetings and take minutes.
- Assists in the preparation of memos, documents, forms, spreadsheets and reports using a variety of software programs, demonstrating tact and diplomacy when handling sensitive information.
- Ensures an effective HR filing system is maintained and assists with internal and external audits, as required.
- Works collaboratively with Admin Services in support of employee office assignments, keys, and any furniture accommodations.

**Qualifications**:

- Undergraduate Degree or Post-secondary Diploma
- One to two years of related experience, preferably in the areas of Human Resources and Administration.
- The incumbent must possess high standards of professional integrity and cultural awareness and sensitivity, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters diplomatically and discreetly.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive and professional working relationships, interact tactfully and communicate effectively with staff, users, and the general public, both orally and in writing.
- Effective organizational, analytical, and time management skills are essential for being self-directed, working independently under pressure, and exercising good judgment.

**Remuneration**:Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. A comprehensive benefits package, including supplemental health & dental, life insurance, pension plan, and four weeks’ vacation is part of a competitive compensation package.
