**Position Summary**

Under the direction of the First Nations Family Advocate Office (FNFAO), the Database Analyst will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit plus (MMIWG2S+), Manitoba-Specific Database through the FNFAO. The incumbent will be responsible for leading and conducting engagements with First Nations citizens impacted by the MMIWG2S+ crisis to inform the development of a Manitoba-Specific MMIWG2S+ Database and will provide ongoing oversight for the MMIWG2S+ Database.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Lead engagement with families, individuals with lived experience, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community organizations who work to support MMIWG2S+ families to develop a comprehensive Regional-Specific MMIWG2S+ Database.
- Collaborate with First Nations leadership to identify priority areas and conduct ongoing data analysis to identify gaps in data collection to ensure accessible support, transparency, and meaningful information sharing when it comes to the loss of loved ones that tragically populate MMIWG2S+ statistics.
- Prepare materials and conduct engagements that are culturally appropriate, and trauma-informed to inform the development of a MMIWG2S+ Database.
- Conduct, collect, and record ongoing research as it pertains to informing the MMIWG2S+ Database.
- Lead the development of the MMIWG2S+ Database by working with database technicians by ensuring the effectiveness, operationalization, and moderation of the Database.
- Establish meaningful contact with impacted families and individuals to help update the database as required.
- Begin inputting currently accrued data into the database once established.
- Compile data and stories collected from engagement to enter into the Database.
- Understand, analyze, and incorporate into the work current local, provincial, and federal sources of MMIWG2S+ data and information, including reports, inquiries, and media stories.
- Review, collect, and record reports on regional and national issues and other developments relevant to MMIWG2S+.
- Establish networks with First Nation organizations, non-government, and government to support MMIWG2S+ Database development and future research.
- Identify, analyze, and define the impacts of government legislation as it relates to MMIWG2S+.
- Lead and establish the incubation of a First Nations research methodology that is consistent with the requests and needs of those most impacted by this crisis and utilize this methodology to determine First Nation-specific indicators of MMIWG2S+.
- Produce high-quality documentation including correspondence, reports, briefing notes, and other documents.
- Establish a trusting relationship with staff through clear communication and teamwork.
- Support the development of a media strategy and social awareness campaign to facilitate engagement and education with the public as it relates to MMIWG2S+.
- Support publishing the MMIWG Database online which synthesizes sources of historical and currently active MMIWG2SLGBTQQIA+ cases in Manitoba which is interactive and provides for inclusivity for those most impacted.
- Attend meetings and/or conferences and provide quarterly reports on progress to management and funders as required.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**

**Education & Experience**
- Completion of post-secondary education in the Social Services/Social Science field including, Social Work, Native Studies, Human Rights. an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Possess a working knowledge of computers, database software, and computer networks, and have sufficient communication, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Having math and reasoning skills as well as programming skills.
- Be familiar with First Nations research methodologies and possess knowledge of other statistical methods, techniques and processes to develop analytical frameworks.
- Possess strong knowledge of First Nations culture, history, treaty, and inherent rights, the impacts of colonization and gender-based violence.
- Experience working with First Nations and First Nation organizations and/or entities.
- Experience in facilitation, public speaking and engagement.
- Training in loss and grief, crisis intervention, mental health, and other healing and wellness activities.
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to provide analytical support while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Be able to follow office practices, procedures, and confidentiality.
- Knowledge of First Nation people and Nations in Manitoba.
- Ability to work flexible hours and be able to travel upon request.
- Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license and a reliable
