Product Design Assistant

Pickering, Canada YYZ Lighting Inc. Full time

**Responsibilities**:

- Assist in the design and mechanical aspects of product development from concept to sale
- Involve in designing attractive and profitable new products using current and new technologies
- Assist in the preparation of new and updating existing concepts, drawings, renderings, instruction sheet and specifications sheet of products for external and internal use
- Coordinate with current and new suppliers for products and parts
- Assist in product inspections and testing, including certifications and quality control and provide test procedures and fixtures to support production test efforts
- Develop new concepts and sketches by studying customer requirements, incorporation industry standards and researching
- Assist the procurement team in evaluating alternate materials from suppliers and identify new suppliers
- Understanding industry standards, researching & testing of new manufacturing products before moving to manufacturing or assembly
- Conducting prototyping to identify the optimal components and achieve the best output for the product, considering both material quality and cost effectiveness.
- Identifying most effective optimizing's electrical accessories eg. cables, wires, connectors etc, with regard to the products
- Collaborate on preparing product documentation, write reports & give presentations
- Assist in creating documents for mechanical design
- Generating supporting documentation, including spec sheet, 2D drawings and instruction sheets
- Assist in the assembly line when needed

**Education Required**
- Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Design or related field - With hands on experience

**Requirements**:

- Minimum 1 to 2 years of experience in a related industry.
- Proficiency in 2D/3D design software such as Fusion 360/SolidWorks, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members
- Experience in manufacturing and mechanical design.
- Understanding of LED technology, low voltage systems, UL, and other testing agencies is a plus.
- Ability to sketch and visualize concepts effectively.
- Familiar with electrical and mechanical systems.

Basic knowledge of electronics and lighting circuitry is desirable.
