Dartmouth, Canada METALS R US LTD Full time

Metals ‘R’ Us is a Dartmouth-local based family company which has the largest variety of mill-certified metals in eastern Canada. We specialize in cut-to-size metal products. Our in-stock products include a variety of pipes, tubing, grating, bars and other products made from steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, copper, lead, chrome, roto cast and zinc.

Makes quotations on standard metal materials, writes orders and relays work orders to warehouse for shipping, making every effort to meet acceptable lead time standards for customer satisfaction.

Coordinates with other departments (ie. warehouse and accounting) efficiently handling purchase orders and work orders as well as accepting payment or ensuring invoice procedures are followed, while providing a high level of service to customers within their approved credit limit.

Performing other duties as required.

Essential Functions:
Uses a computer program dedicated to the metal industry to retrieve customer information, stock status information, credit limits and product codes. Ensures that correct codes are used and pricing is input correctly.

Following up on inquiries by customers that relate to delivery information and product specifications in a timely fashion will promote good customer relations.

Must be familiar with suppliers and pricing practices in order to accurately quote orders. Works closely with Sales Manager on price quotations on items for special order and not contained in price book.

To learn to identify product lines and develop a knowledge base of what is regularly stocked and what is special order.

To establish and maintain a cooperative and productive working relationship with all present employees. Working well as a team is important.

Additional Responsibilities:
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Supervision Received:
Supervised by sales supervisor.

Performs semi-routine duties where some judgment is required when communicating with customers and inter-company personnel.

Responsibility and Authority:
Reasonable care and operation of standard office equipment such as calculator, copy machine, fax machine, scanner, computer, telephone system and Debit and Credit Card Terminals.

Working as a team, will require a positive attitude, sharing ideas and accepting an equal workload to allow the office to run effectively and smoothly.

Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent

Some experience in a computer based environment Demonstrated ability to deal with customers

Experience in metal industry an asset
