This is a one-year limited term, beginning October 2023, with the opportunity of renewal for an additional year based on satisfactory performance and available funding.

This postdoctoral scholar position will be part of a research team to support a SSHRC (Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council) Insight grant funding the project “Retaining hybrid identity and purpose: Strategic responses to pressures when firms internationalize.” Dr. **Fernando Angulo-Ruiz** of MacEwan School of Business will be the primary supervisor for the postdoctoral fellow and Drs. **Etayankara Muralidharan** and **Albena Pergelova** - both of MacEwan School of Business - will co-supervise. Dr. **Karen Hughes** of the Alberta School of Business (University of Alberta) will also participate in the co-supervision.

**The research team**

The research team includes outstanding scholars. Dr. Angulo-Ruiz, former Board of Governors Research Chair, studies hybrid businesses and internationalization. Dr. Muralidharan has published on comparative social entrepreneurship. Dr. Pergelova is the Board of Governors Research Chair at MacEwan University and has published on gender and entrepreneurship. Dr. Hughes is the Alex Hamilton Professor at the Alberta School of Business and a Visiting Research Fellow at the Diana International Research Institute at Babson College. She has published on issues relating to gender, entrepreneurship, and economic change.

**The project**

The project “Retaining hybrid identity and purpose: Strategic responses to pressures when firms internationalize” utilizes novel data on social enterprises across the globe. We will collect new qualitative interviews, surveys, and archival data on hybrid businesses across different regions of the world. Involvement in the project is an excellent opportunity to contribute to addressing important questions and to disseminate our findings in peer-reviewed outlets.

Your key responsibilities will include:

- Planning of research activities, discussion guide, and survey design;
- Planning and assisting with data collection and data analysis;
- Ensuring data quality;
- Writing research papers and reports;
- Preparing presentations and peer reviewed publications;
- Assisting with proposal preparation for new research activities;
- Assisting with the organization of events for non-academic stakeholders;
- Co-supervising undergraduate, master or PhD students research assistants; and
- Presenting research results in seminars, scientific conferences and or related settings and communities.

QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD in entrepreneurship or related field that is completed within five years of the start date of the appointment;
- Experience working well as a member of interdisciplinary research teams;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Experience with peer-reviewed publications;
- Ability to work independently; and
- Desire to learn new research methods, strengths-based and collaborative research, and contribute to others’ learning.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Knowledge of academic research on social entrepreneurship, and hybrid organizations;
- Skills and knowledge in qualitative (in-depth interviews), quantitative (survey) and archival research approaches; and
- Experience with research ethics boards and following ethics protocols.
