**Position**: Contract Full Time |**Working Hours**: 35 per week | **Location**: Peel Region

**Brampton Multicultural Centre (BMC)** is a charity, established in 1987, that provides settlement and social services to newcomer, immigrant and the larger community in the Peel Region. Our mandate is to enable less advantaged individuals, families and groups in the community to achieve their potential, improve their life skills and build their futures. BMC also offers a variety of programs and services to assist youth, develop their leadership skills, enhance their community engagement and prepare them to meet the needs of the present labour market. The Youth Specialist will be responsible for organizing and coordinating program deliverables to assist diverse youth in the Peel Region and increase their level of involvement in school, community and civic process through social action and volunteering.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Plan, organize, coordinate and deliver program services to youth of diverse backgrounds
- Recruit youth participants as well as trainers; identify external training opportunities
- Work with youth on a one-to-one basis, or in group sessions to overcome barriers and inspire leadership and self-confidence
- Recruit volunteers/local leaders to become role models for the youth
- Coordinate and administer training sessions for participants
- Facilitate workshops on topics such as Public Speaking, Negotiation Skills, Presentation Skills, Art of Facilitation and Media Training
- Arrange for guest speakers, special events and field trips as needed
- Facilitate communication between project members and external organizations/partners
- Conduct strategy development and implementation of community outreach and program development initiatives
- Act as a positive role model to youth participants within the program, providing guidance and mentorship on an ongoing basis
- Liaise and build relationships with schools, community agencies and organizations
- Collect statistical information, write reports for management on service delivery/what worked and initiate change to achieve the objectives of the program
- Evaluate the outcome of the program and conduct an in-depth analysis
- Any other related duties complementary to the job

Reports to Executive Director or his/her designate

**QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS**
- Post-Secondary education in Social Services or Non-profit management with a minimum of 3 to 5 years’ management and/or related experience in the settlement sector.
- Experience in development, implementation and management of programs.
- Proven problem solving skills and demonstrated ability to effectively organize and manage and interface with diverse community and individuals
- Strong understanding of Peel education system; knowledge of legislation, policies and issues relating to immigrants and refugees including a strong understanding of their barriers to social and economic participation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to successfully prioritize goals and activities.
- Energetic, and able to relate well to youth.
- Skills and experience in conducting research and needs assessment, ability to develop workshops.
- Knowledge of community services, programs, resources and outreach practices.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and building a sense of belonging.
- Strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Office 365), Adobe software and web based databases (iCARE/CTIMS).
- Ability to maintain multiple social media profiles and maintain BMC website using content management system.
- Flexible to work evenings or weekends if and when required
- Police Record Check for Vulnerable Sector is required as part of the hiring process
- Must have own transportation, driver license and valid insurance to use your vehicle for job related travelling.
