Dedicated leader providing hope and help to women and girls at risk.

Ensures that the organization’s volunteer programs operate in a professional and efficient manner with attention to confidentiality, safety for clients and volunteers, quality training and appropriate training of volunteers. Works collaboratively with the Communications/PR Specialist to assist with social media calendar management and content research to support EFRY’ s mission.

**Volunteer Coordinator and Agency Community Relations**

- **Areas of Responsibility**:
1. Maintains the volunteer program through recruiting, interviewing, selecting, scheduling, and supervising volunteers and youth for mentoring. Formulates policies and procedures for developing and implementing such a program.

2. Supports social media profile of the agency by posting content and events, and collaborates with the Communications/PR Specialist

3. Orients, trains and develops staff and volunteers in the program. Evaluates and develops the volunteers and the program and plans necessary improvements with the Department Manager.

4. In conjunction with the Department Manager identifies programming needs for the program.

5. Assesses volunteer’s abilities and ensures that appropriate and meaningful placement of

volunteers is achieved.

6. Maintains any necessary budgets required for the program.

7. Maintains personnel files on all volunteers and their mentored matches. Ensures that records of volunteer matches, hours, requests and concerns are accurately kept.

8. Works in cooperation with other community resources on behalf of the organization’s clientele and makes community professionals and the general public aware of the work of the program.

9. Arranges orientation and information sessions for families, youth and mentors.

10. Performs other related duties as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Education & Training**:
A diploma in Human Services, Project Management, or other field related to management of people and processes, or the equivalent education and experience is typically required for this position. Courses in business management are an asset.

One year’s previous experience in a similar environment is required. Previous supervisory and management experience is preferred.

Knowledge of high-needs youth and children, volunteer management, and curriculum development for volunteer programs.

Skills & Abilities: i) good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.

ii) knowledge of theory, principles and practices of the field

iii) proficient time and general management skills

iv) interviewing and assessment skills

Additional Information The ability to function independently and manage a significant workforce is an ongoing expectation of this position. Handling relatively untrained staff who will receive no remuneration adds to the stressful responsibilities of the Volunteer Coordinator.
