**WORK ILLUSTRATION**:
The Manager, Project Field Execution is responsible for leading and managing the day-to-day field and safe execution of an outsourced portfolio of the organization’s capital and maintenance work program. The incumbent provides technical and administrative guidance and management to the selected vendor during the pre-construction and construction stages of the projects and manages compliance with the contractor safety management program, monitoring the on-time, on cost completion of assigned work program in an efficient manner complying with applicable laws and policies, standard construction practices and work procedures.

The incumbent is expected to behave ethically and follow the established code of business conduct, policies and internal control procedures, laws and regulations governing Toronto Hydro.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Manages the day-to-day construction planning, execution and reporting/completion for an assigned outsourced portfolio of the organization’s capital and maintenance work program.
- Oversees and validates work package viability (cost, customer, assets function, reliability, safety, environment) and timely cost-effective work completion of assigned work program.
- Provides guidance on Toronto Hydro construction standards, constructability advice and support, and participation in Toronto Hydro sustainability initiatives.
- Manages projects through conceptual design, construction and energization stage and confirms safety, schedule attainment, cost and quality targets are achieved.
- Manages and mitigates day-to-day operational and construction risks that impact cost, quality or schedule attainment and monitors contractor activities on project job sites as required.
- Collaborates with internal stakeholders to coordinate, provide advice, consultation and support on the constructability of the work package
- Validates any change orders during construction phase, and makes recommendations to appropriate internal stakeholders.
- Responsible for monitoring and affirming that pre-construction, monthly and ongoing safety and operations meetings with assigned contractor vendor firm(s) are conducted.
- Participates in the pre-qualification of contractors and the ongoing maintenance of contractor qualifications, including insurance, WSIB coverage and training. Identifies and implements productivity improvements, system enhancements and measures and evaluates new tools, processes and equipment.
- Manages and mitigates day-to-day construction issues in the field, including oversight of legal compliance, materials issues, quality issues, environment, health and safety concerns, and customer complaints
- Conducts root-causes analysis and investigations, identifies non-conformances, and documents actions plans to resolve and close gaps
- Acts as a liaison with system operations to mitigate issues with hold-offs and work requests.
- Acts as a single point of contact to contractor vendor firm(s) during escalated emergencies.
- Coordinates external resource support, should the situation warrant, including engaging with the firms, rostering of crews, processing time sheets and managing materials availability.

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- University Degree or Diploma in Engineering (Electrical/Power Line Technician preferred) and/or a Journeyperson Power Line Technician; a combination of equivalent related education, experience and certification may be considered
- Certified Engineering Technologist or Professional Engineer in Ontario (P.Eng) Preferred
- Five (5) years of experience in the electrical utility industry, involved in electrical construction, maintenance, and operations of all electrical distribution systems
- Three (3) years of supervisory/leadership experience working in the electrical field; a combination of leadership and training experience may be considered
- Valid G Class Driver's license in the Province of Ontario
- Strong knowledge of utility design and construction preferred
- Thorough knowledge of electrical overhead, underground, network and URD systems
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Toronto Hydro/Electrical Utilities Safety Association Rule Book, Utility Work Protection Code, Transportation of Dangerous Goods and relevant safety, electrical and environmental legislation and regulations
- Familiar with reading electrical drawings, feeder/operating prints, switching, overhead/underground work practices and standards
- Knowledge of practices, standards, equipment, materials and engineering records for the above operating systems
- Knowledge of external contractor administration and management requirements
- Strong project execution skills

- Familiar with special work procedures and practices for hazardous work environments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
