Waste Depot Labourer

The General Labourer is responsible for the handling, consolidating and processing of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials received by the Processing Facilities. The General Labourer must display a focus on safety and efficiency in a team environment while performing moderately labour intensive and repetitious tasks.** This position's working schedule is from Wednesday - Sunday's from 8:15 am - 4:45 pm.**

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide excellent customer service to the residents of York Region that visit the depot
- Have good communication skills to deal with York Regional employees, and the public
- Have read and understand all training documents on-site
- Receive MHSW from residents
- Identify, sort, and pack MHSW into the appropriate containers
- Maintain clean grounds and facility
- Follow Supervisor’s instructions
- Wear all of the required PPE at all times
- Work in a safe manner at all times
- Maintain and report any equipment that needs repair
- Comply with all rules and regulations to do with operating the depot

**Knowledge, Skills & Competencies**:

- Ability to perform moderately labour intensive and repetitious tasks
- Physically fit with the ability to lift +50lbs and stand on cement for extended periods of time
- Excellent communication skills
- Planning and organizational skills
- Ability to analyze and solve problems
- Able to work independently and in a team environment
