**Public Relations and Communication Consultant**

**Job Type**:Full-time, (3 - 6 Month Contract)

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop and execute strategic PR plans and campaigns to enhance the reputation and visibility of McKenzie Towne Council.
- Manage and maintain positive relationships with media representatives, journalists, and influencers.
- Develop and maintain a strong network of media contacts and actively engage with them to secure coverage and positive publicity.
- Craft engaging and persuasive PR copy for press releases, articles, speeches, and other communication materials.
- Create and manage content for various communication channels, including the council’s website, social media platforms, newsletters, and internal communications.
- Plan, organize, and coordinate events such as press conferences, community forums, and public outreach programs.
- Monitor and analyze public opinion, media coverage, and industry trends to identify potential risks or opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging and brand representation.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to senior management on PR and communication strategies.
- Stay up to date with industry best practices, emerging trends, and new technologies in PR and communication.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communication, Journalism, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in public relations, corporate communication, or related roles.
- Proven track record in developing and executing successful PR campaigns.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with exceptional copywriting and editing abilities.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with media contacts and key stakeholders.
- Proficient in using various communication and PR tools, including media databases, monitoring software, and social media management platforms.
- Creative thinker with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather and interpret data, measure campaign effectiveness, and provide actionable insights.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Experience in the public sector or working with government organizations.
- Familiarity with local community engagement and outreach initiatives.
- Knowledge of SEO and digital marketing strategies.
- Previous experience in crisis management or handling sensitive issues.
